Whoa nice capture, it emphasised the speed of the bird..it looks like it was cutting the water and air

Someone that gets it.Β I hate it when wildlife photos are all the same boring close up w/o a sense of movement.

This one is a pure beauty! i love the trail it leaves behind him, one can really feel the motion in it and become part of the take off.

it really surprise me how well this one came out as it was one of my first of several: photo with zoom lens, wild life photo, photo of water, etc.

it was just more of the water and trees in the background
actually I have meant to go through all my photos and get rid of old links actually but often get side track
got more of it (or one of its buddies on the second page of my featured gallery)
it kinda gotten to know me and I have gottn to know it patterns so it is alot easier for me to get photos of it now
sometimes I swear it seems like it is teasing me by getting close then flying away then once I get where it was it get close again repeat repeat LoL

Seraph6283 In reply to get-chilly [2009-01-22 00:18:27 +0000 UTC]
that one was from my first encounter with it
I nromally spend a few hours a trip founding, chasing, and photographing it anywhere from 10am as late as 1pm to 4/5pm (so 3~7 hours)

well like I said in one post I take photos of other stuff as well I am going by the length of the trip not so much the time it might take to get any one photo
for one photo I am guessing normally I can get a decent shot at it 10-60 minutes upon arrival depending where it is. Beyond the intial photo I can get an other photo every 5 or less minutes if it doesn't totally fly away. If it does then it normally take me 10-30 minutes to find again on average. Then it is a repeat of 5 or less minutes or having to do an other 10-30 search for it.

the crop does this piece justice i also like the stronger colors. i find that i actually like how it isnt completely focused it gives the viewer the sense of movement with the bird. i really think this is beautiful!

well it can be consider approite to not have every thing at focus at times. Examples being panning shots (blurry background, focus subject - my blue heron photo of it taking off), implied motion shots (focus background but partial to fully blur subject), and shots using low depth of field.
glad you like by the way.
how long you been into photography if you don't mind me asking.

I been shoting since ummm July of this summer (maybe a little bit of June). I get excited about photography in a simliar manner that I do over exploration and treasure hunting in RPG video games (geeky but true). Photography your first major interest art wise or not? For me it is drawing I been doing that as long as I can remember.

cropping in to focus on the taking off really serves it well doesn't it?
