Would that be more interesting if the Arcane Hounds have the special sensory system which replace their sight? For example, they can detect the life aura of other lifeforms (for example, snake can detect the ultraviolet from lifeforms) as they rely on magic more.

The hounds actually have super hearing and smelling as their basic defense because they cannot see but remember that they have magic inherently flowing in them, this type of magic helps them enhance their perception towards their surroundings there fore they can run and avoid obstacles and it enables them to understand gijinkas which why they are as intelligent we are ^^.
Hope that helps.

Yeah, but my character is fire-based, so the combination would be a little hard.
Ever think of design a fire-based Arcane Hound?

Which means, there could be an Arcane hound that knows fire magic? In that case I would like to have one!
But it looks like these hounds having difficulty in trusting the gijinkas?

They are elusive, and yep there can be a Fire Arcane Hound if trained.
Yep they have a history of being killed off by poachers coz their blood has magical properties and can heal gijinkas severely tapped out of their magic, their furs lasts forever and their fangs are stronger and sharper than any metal while their organs are made into delicacies...*Ekk in the last part* which is why they seem to stay clear off gijinkas.
but if ever in some cases like Towa's a gijinka ever does a good deed for a Hound, then they might be persuaded to be their ally...

Well I'll try to get one then.
Is there any difference between male and female hounds? The one in here is a female, so I wondered.

Ah well..
Females have lighter colors *noted at the illustrations*
Males have bigger built and darker furs they have tiny horns too so they are easily distinguishable...
I'll illustrate a male and female when I have the time. ^^
Fun fact: the Arcane hound with most largest horns is the Alpha male...
