Thanks for the compliments. I'm glad you like the thruster effect, but it was a real kick in the balls. I used a combination of the blur tool and the eraser on 10% opacity. And a few hundred strokes later, it looks like that. At that point, it looked really flat, so I added those particles with some weird particle brush. I hope no one mistakes that for GN particles. To be honest, that'd piss me off a lot and I'd probably punch that guy in the face. >,<;
In short, I need a better technique, haha.

Nope, they don't look like GN particles actually. Looks more like the classic thruster output rather than that of a GN drive cone or condenser, which in my opinion is a bit denser. Plus I think the particles make the thruster output look somehow realistic.

Yeah, the particles made it look a lot more lively. It added some dimension to the exhaust, if that makes any sense. Particle effects are extremely useful. They really played that up in doing effects for Gurren Lagann. Look in the dvd extras if you don't know what I mean. It's really interesting and intense how they used it.

Sadly I haven't seen that anime yet, though friends have been recommending it.
