This artwork is from the first Mistborn book published by Tor books. I have this copy and I love this picture of Vin. It has been done by Christian McGrath and he also did artwork for the next 2 in this series which are also mass paperback publications by Tor fantasy . I wish that someone would republish in B format hardback and use this artwork for the covers.

How can you claim this as your own work? even though ... when you say it is used with permission of Christian McGrath(and it just links to his portfolio site), and when compared side by side there is no differences. It's just a re-posting on his work. Every comment on here seems to imply they think its your work... :/ Shouldn't you be correcting them? and telling them to go check out his portfolio if your just promoting him? But really you should only post original artwork. AND if you have true permission, you'd have more to show than a link to his public portfolio site.

It just doesn't feel right that your taking credit for his work... indirectly as it may be. Just don't let people believe this is your work, because it's not.

I also love the books and that's why I stumbled upon this, and recognized it from my book version.
Hopefully you wont let people continue believing you made this work, which is an original illustration by Christian McGrath.

I am not taking credit for his work. And I go to their webpages to the people who say "Thanks." Also, this is a shared profile that he has full access to and is able to see for himself.

If you'd like proof, you may email him.

Hi,

I am loving Mistborn!!! I hadn't heard of it before your mention of it on one of my pics, i thought I would see if it was any good...It is! I am well into 'The Final Empire' and I like the way the story is falling together...Just thought I would mention it

Hah, I did a doubletake. The style reminded me so strongly of the Harry Dresden coverart.... and then I clicked your link.

Very well done. Don't like the lightning, and if I were to nitpick the daggers should be glass. Very good job with the cloak though.

Only thing is, those knives don't look like glass, as they only use glass knives.

Vin started using obsidian daggers at one point didn't she? Or am I remembering incorrectly?

I can't remember, maybe in the third book, but not in the first two.

Vin has only ever used glass or obsidian daggers, the description is interchangeable in the books, whether they are any sort of glass or if they are actually obsidian isn't specified but implied since her glass daggers are also referred to as obsidian.

I think obsidian is considered to be a kind of glass in the series, as regular glass would be too fragile.

Awesome! This is actually the artwork I have on my copy of the book! Good work - and I must say, the colors are much better on the computer version.

Great image. It really captures the murk of the Final Empire. Vin looks fantastic, I hadn't considered making a mistcloak of layered strips of cloth like this one appears to be but I almost like it better. If I absolutely HAD to complain about something I would say that I wouldn't want to fight using glass/obsidian daggers with even more fragile tines on them. Beautiful piece.
