Hiroko can turn herself into animals smaller than her, though she typically favors birds. She primarily uses this power outside of combat since she is as weak as the form she takes. She favors these forms to lead hunters and individuals lost in the woods to better hunting locations or safer areas to bless those and keep those who are interested in exploring the woods to continue exploring.
Silent Step
When activating this ability Hiroko is able to traverse through spaces nearly silently (she typically uses this not for its intended purpose of keeping her safe but instead to pet animals that would typically be spooked by people) though it does not help her if she is caught while using this ability. Her capacity to defend herself is also not as strong when she is attempting to be sneaky.
Barrage
Once enough energy has been stored, Hiroko can call upon a barrage of arrows to rain down upon her enemies. It is a strong but brief attack that typically covers a medium radius and must be done at a distance.
Hallowed Arrow
She can infuse her arrows with life, empowering and energizing her arrows and granting her the power to manipulate their qualities and efficiency, allowing them to heal, mend and purify rather than harm.

Outwardly, Hiroko appears to be not very interested in the people around her. Though it’s really more like she isn’t sure of herself, so she merely observes more often than she participates vocally. She tends to also stray away from conversation not because she doesn’t want to be active in them, sometimes it’s difficult to start them, and unless Hiroko knows that individual, she struggles to start conversations. She does desire to have deep relationships with others, though it is typically difficult for her to assure others that she wants to be friends- or at least she thinks it is.
Whether it’s because she’s from an older time when she was human or maybe because she loves the way it looks, Hiroko really enjoys older historical things, ranging from food, to clothes, and architecture. She embodies a lot of older traditions with her focus on Kyūdō, as well as her wardrobe being primarily of kimonos and yukata. She finds a lot of comfort in the familiar, as well as in the traditional because there’s a lot of rules that are understandable and easy to follow. While modern dress and way of living is very open in choice and that is quite overwhelming for Hiroko.
History:
After the fatal incident that took her and her brother’s life in their small village Hiroko heard the mountain speaking to her, as if walking beside her, leading her through the dense forests. An older figure, donned in a dark kimono and a large brimmed hat approached her, though Hiroko didn’t need an introduction to this figure, she recognized him- the one who saved her and her brother’s souls- a mountain god. The god of the mountain offered guidance to her. He spoke warmly to her of the plants and of the animals he cared so much for but had no one to protect them. He was an older god, teaching Hiroko how to live, what it means to exist in this new way, and how to take care of a shrine. He also taught her about shinki, their purposes, as well as the importance of taking care of them not only physically but also mentally.
Hiroko had her first experience as a goddess when she was strolling through the woods, on one of her “patrols-” they’re actually more like strolls. It was getting later and later into the evening, the sun was beginning to set and the energy of the forest was different. She followed the feeling until she came across an older man, a human, with no overnight gear, merely his weapon of choice and nothing to show for his efforts. She found herself wishing to turn into an animal, hoping that he would see it and follow it, maybe she could get him home. Before she knew it she found herself in the form of a white bird, and in this form she was able to guide the man back to the trail head.
She watched in her normal form from the treeline, relieved that now he would be okay. Only to notice that the man had seen her, leaving a small offering of a snack he had left and a few yen on a flat rock. After he turned and walked back to wherever he was originally from Hiroko took the offerings and was grateful.
From that moment on she became more curious about how the world was, taking up “new to her” hobbies, even visiting some cities from time to time- as long as there were forests nearby. That’s where she learned about Survival Games and modern hunting, and her passion for her duty soared as she learned more about the individuals who participated in what is now more of a sport rather than pure necessity. She’s even attempted to make friends, though she’s very lucky in the way that humans seem to forget her so keeping relationships is not something she has to worry about. Which to her feels like a lower barrier to entry in involving herself in the Survival Games.
When she’s not doing her duties, playing airsoft, or practicing archery, she’s with her brother at the sea shore. It is so peaceful there, and she enjoys being with her brother, finding safety in his company and those he chooses to surround himself with- admiring his ability to be so friendly with everyone he meets. Maybe one day she’ll be more like him- but for now she is comfortable enough to watch from the sidelines.
Likes: Wagashi (traditional sweets), Kyūdō (archery), spending time with Hikoto
Dislikes: Being too hot, ruined clothes especially torn clothes, unfulfilling naps

Hiroko loves Survival Games- Hiroko when she spends time in the modern world a lot of her time is focused on learning about Survival Games (essentially airsoft), and even participating where and when she can. While learning new things can be a little intimidating, the community is always welcoming, even if they don’t remember her.
At popular hunting areas small hokoras are created for her specifically at trailheads, typically full of snacks hunters bring with them as well as jars that have some yen in them.

Her older brother, God of Fishing, whom she loves dearly. She looks up to him and quietly relies on him emotionally, often most expressive when he is near. He is her rock. When she is not in the forest or with humans the best place to look for her is with Hikoto.
