Merry Christmas!!!

Hello deviants!!!

After I had completed my first version, Sailor Candy Corn, I had gotten the idea to do this for a Christmas version of her. It actually took me far longer to complete this because I wanted to color her in with candies that I thought were easily recognizable. It took me a while to think it out, and then to color it. However, the background proved to be them most difficult, and I created it by myself, so I admit I am a bit proud of how it looks now.

I have Photoshop 7, but have very little understanding on how to work the program. From viewing art pieces here on deviantART, I have learned about layers and such, through reading artist's comments. However, I just do not, understand them. I have read many tutorials made by fellow artists here on deviantART. However, it still comes across to me as complex. I am the type of person who must be shown something visually, to get a better understanding on how to do things. So, without someone to show me, I am afraid I am at a loss.

So, to create my background, I did it in a more-or-less old school way—step by step. I took a picture of my own Christmas tree that was in my computer from a few years ago, cropped it, re-focused it, re-colored it, then did the good old copy and paste trick. Yes, we're talking about many hours of work here! Since I couldn't figure out how to get the background to look as if it were behind her, I pasted it over her as well. Then, I used the magic wand, in my iPhoto program, and line by line, copied and pasted her back together on top of my background! This took me since December to finish, thanks to all these little steps I had to do, to piece the image back together.

As well, I wanted to include Luna in on the festivities, so I decided to let her wear her very own candy-necklace!

So, in case it is difficult to determine what some of Sailor Gingerbread's candies are, I will list them for you. Starting from the top of her:

Her hair ornaments are: Brachs Christmas nougats.

Her tiara gem: A Jordan chocolate covered almond.

Her earrings: Candy buttons and shaped gumdrops.

Her Choker: Shaped lemon gumdrops.

Her shoulder and elbow pads: Pastel mint wafers.

Her Brooch: A pink Necco Wafer in the center, the moon symbol replaced with a banana shape from the Runts Candies, set in the center of white frosting, and the outer edge is a round Peppermint Candy Cane, and the jewels replaces with four M & M's.

The Moon Symbol on her boots: Shaped Lemon Gumdrops.

And the rest of her Sailor outfit is the gingerbread, trimmed with frosting of course, like a real Gingerbread man!
