What can be said for Hilde without first addressing the mare's bull-headedness? Her stubborn attitude began at an early age and she retains it especially now as an adult. She's definitely a leader, not a follower, but even with her stocky build she has little patience for injustice. Hilde could be called irritable, grumpy and even a grouch, but she is no bully. The large mare is no push over either. She's got her fair share of flaws, among them one of the most mentionable being a temper. She's a hot-head, not to mention defensive. She's the sort of individual one might hope to gain the favor of if they're on the hunt for a protector. Manage to gain her trust--no small feat--and Hilde would go down fighting in another's defense. But cross her and face a heavy hooved enemy.
History:
It was said that when she was born, Brunhilde's grandmother foretold of the young filly's shortcomings. Her mother gave her the given name Brunhilde, meaning "ready for battle", and as she grew it fit. She was always ready to battle, and too stubborn to give up when she faced a fight. However, with her birth also came serious tension in her birth herd. Hilde was a filly born from a wandering stallion and so the lead stallion wasn't incredibly happy with the presence of a foal that didn't belong to him. But he allowed her to stay, at the request of her mother and grandmother. But it didn't make life easy for Hilde. Her siblings taunted her, but as she grew and it became apparent that she'd inherited her father's stocky genes Hilde stopped letting anyone bully her. This began to irritate the lead stallion as Hilde matured and he sought to shun her. Imagine her mother's shock when Hilde fought back, whirling on the stallion with teeth bared and hooves raised. The fight eventually dissipated, with neither the winner and both wounded. Hilde, unhappy with the leadership and her mother's complacent attitude, left the herd, content to wander as long as she could do so under her own rule.
