BALEFAR
the Vudash (emanation of the Negative Energy Plane)

Vudash is the name with which Balefar's race is known.
Balefar is a creature that can change his material form at his will (even if he tends to use always the same humanoid form when interacting with other people, in order to be at least recognized) so he could have any form... sometimes I take some "artistic freedom" with him and I draw him with... scales, horns, strange glyphs, holes, wings, tentacles and other creepy stuff, but it's not something about his design or his nature, it's just for illustration purposes..
His actual form (shadow elf) was chosen by Thadras. Balefar at first was used to met the dragon every time with a different body, thus pissing Thadras off VERY much. After few days, the dragon "commanded" the vudash to keep always the same form for the sake of his sanity (:°D), and he also chose the form he "liked the best" among those the vudash had ever shown. Balefar thought that Thadras request was acceptable and did as he told him to... Now he still keeps that form.
His body and everything he wears is something he made up in order to interact with the creatures on the earth... he really doesn't have any preferences about clothes because is something he doesn't care about: he uses them because he know that humanoid creatures are usually dressed and the only thing he learned about the issue (because he thought it was an useful information) is the difference between male and female clothes... nothing more. He will most probably create clothes similar to some he saw on someone else, just to be sure to do it right, that means that he could be dressed in any way :°D
For weapons, it applies the same rules about clothes: in his real form he doesn't have a body and his combat doesn't involve any weapon, but only magic and energy manipulation. In his material form, he made sure to be able to use any kind of weapon with his new body (just like the Matrix, you know? He... downloaded all the informations about fight styles and weapons XD) but he still doesn't use them, preferring his magic and his own body as his main weapon
He will never be able to have proper feelings like humans, he simply can't do it, it's not in his nature... the only way he has to feel something is "perceiving" sensations through someone else's mind... in this way he can see what feelings are, and can understand them (even in their illogicality)... Anyway, some of his later behaviours made think he could have developed a sort of "sensibility", even though no one is really sure about it
He's a soldier and he was sent on the earth by his superiors to accomplish an important mission (yeah, always the same issue of the prophecy involving dark lords arising and stuff u__ù..)
Even though we can hardly talk about "friendship" between Thadras and Balefar, I can say that their relationship is kinda genuine and very far from being just a "partnership of convenience"... actually, there's no convenience at all in this partnership :°D Thadras should help Balefar, but he hardly care about the vudash's mission
He really isn't actively evil... when talking about "negative energy" I strictly refer to the kind of energy that compose the plane more than a real alignment of the creatures that comes from it... in any case, Balefar's actions are first and foremost dictated by his "superiors", and even though he has his own free will, he only uses it when he's not forced to do otherwise
Vudash hierarchy is based on subjects' powers: the most powerful the spirit is, the most intelligent and with more self awareness it will be, and, consequently, the higher in the hierarchy it will place. Balefar is two ranks lower than the most powerful among his race, and there are only five other vudash with his same power.
Even though he does interact with the other people of Animae, he doesn't share any particular relationship with any of them, mostly due to his strange nature.
He doesn't need to eat and he never does, even though Thadras tries to force him eating things sometimes...
Since they're made of energy, Vudash can't be killed. Even though they can be "destroyed", they always come to "life" again in their own plane of existence. They're immortal. Anyway, they can be subjugated, sealed (and in some cases, even absorbed) by anyone who is powerful enough to handle the energies that compose them.
The "111 Names", even though are called like that, are not really appellations of the vudash. The "111 Names" are 111 mystic words that focus in themselves the whole power of the spirit. Every vudash has them and they're different for each individual: knowing them would mean having full control on the vudash himself, that's why vudash tend to keep them secret.
Warlocks use the Names in order to evoke the vudash on the material plane, even though only the names of the weakest vudash are easy to find out trough study... the more Names a warlock knows, the greater the control they have over the spirits.
