Hi,
I started poking around your B&W collection since you list yourself as a beginning photographer and since I have an interest in B&W.
B&W is about lighting, composition, texture and contrast. Your gallery doesn't (yet) provide striking works that reflect these qualities, but there are some nice photos that show potential.
I don't have time for a critique, but I'll make a few comments. For this photo, check out what happens if you crop the top just a bit. The photo sort of fades out on top. In your browser, just scroll the photo up until the top shows just dark clouds. Not only does the photo become moodier, but at a certain point, the eye will be drawn to the dramatic contrast of the white boat and black water (right now, my eye is drawn to the horizon, where nothing interesting is happening).
Your Bowl and Pitcher is probably your more interesting shot because of the dramatic lighting. But I also like Logs on the Sand and Low Tide. In Low Tide, I like the pull between the ship and the log, which some people objected to. Well, I like it because it pushes the envelope a bit. And it has a beautiful sense of lighting and texture. Logs on the Sand might have benefited from shooting the log from a lower angle to bring it closer to the drama in the dark sky (although the sky looks odd and a little soft).
I have a couple of small collections of B&W that might help clear up what I mean about drama. Also, there are some nice B&W photographers on my watch list and in my Favorites collection.
You may also want to put more of your personality into your shots. You like the Pre-Raphaelites? Try to see if you can capture the same mood in your photos.
By the way, I only had time to look at the B&W shots, so the comments are only based on those.

Thanks for the artist pointers. Man, some people are good! And it looks so easy when they do it, doesn't it?
