You can preview your finished file with your web browser before you post it... You could choose a standard maximum size for the width and resize the file, or use the dA display size option as you upload. You don't need to be surprised by the display size....

Theoretically I could use sta.sh to see it first, but resizing it in dA or Photoshop is still a struggle to get the right look

Resizing and previewing are really easy, but the simplest approach is when you upload to dA, (or edit a deviation) right below where you select "Mature Content" is a drop-down sizing menu, including your original size and several smaller size options. Easy Peasy.

I know how to use it, but the quality after dA resizing it is questionable (especially on this picture), and so I will try to find a future way with image software (not that I'm overly bothered by the size here).
