Can you verify something for me. What purpose do the heavy stones on roof serve? I have heard that they to help keep the roofing from ripping up and blowing off under high wind conditions. Is that correct?

I think it is as you say, the roof must be made โ€‹โ€‹of shingled like those of the closet on the right.
