Description READ CAREFULLY:

Project for my Digital Message Making class. The goal of this assignment was to take an image, and use it for both the Pro side, and Con side of a controversial argument. I chose Videogame Violence for my theme. You HAD to use the same image, and could only change the cropping, color scheme, headline, and body copy to promote each side. This is the Pro side of the argument.

Project Time: 10hrs
Pencil, Ink, Photoshop

The more I study child psychology, the more I realize that it's not violent videogames that lead to violent kids; it's abusive/neglectful parenting. I doubt you'll see that reported in the media anytime soon.

This makes an amazing point, and a true one. Parents do have a lot of say as to what games their kids play, well not so much mine anymore, I'm 17 lol.

video games cant legally be band it falls undr the creative works of the people and therefore is a extension of one own self with means that they may release it as they please and if thay are band then thay are silencing there voice witch brakes the first amendment in short TO BAND VIDEO GAMES IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL

This is Murder Simulators thing is VERY BS. It's the parents' fault as always because they dont teach their kid what's reality and what's fiction and other things such as bullying and letting their kid being bratty asshole. Every time when their stupid kid gets into accident or get beat up they go b***hing and crying to the system and spoil everything for the us gamers. They trying ban RESIDENT EVIL? Ok do you see people getting killed? NO ONLY FLESH EATING ZOMBIES COMING TO GET YOU. I swear if they try to ban games i LIKE such as Assassin's Creed next thing they going to say we going to grow up as assassins or something. Look at happen at the Naruto accident when idiot kid tries to bury himself in the sand like Gaara.

Truth be told: Violence the future of all humanity
Unless we do something to end it
But the inevitable will never be stopped it can only be Posponed

This is better, parental advisory issues.

Violent games are rated M for mature, not E for everyone.
GTA, Deadspace, Call of Duty, God of War and many others are not games for children and i see many little minions playing those.

Stupid parents.

Good argument You brought here. You took an river like theme, argue betwen PRO and CON will never end. I'll admit that I'm with PRO side, couse games are not the only thing that provoke violence (but its true that someone can take example from them)
Really good job on those pieces

Interesting project. I've been playing violent games for a very long time. Before there was rating system. I was playing a military style game once and all the missions never involved civilians. Suddenly there was a raid mission and I accidentally shot a civilian. I saw someone and I fired. The briefing never even mentioned there would be civilians in the building. The screen showed a penalty. I actually felt bad about doing that. Not "I can't sleep" kind of bad, but you get the drift. That was maybe five years ago, but the moment still sticks with me.

I have never played any of the GTA series of games. I'm just not interested in playing as the bad guy and committing violent acts for the sake of violence.
Though a lot of this has to do with parent having the guts to stop buying these violent styled games for kids.

I agree with the last sentence in that explanasion of the picture. Games aren't to blame for violence. It's the parents.
Parents should have control over what kids watch or not watch.
That's goes the same with TV too. That's why I hate people who blame games for the result of violence.
It's not the games fault.

(Continuation to my writing from con)... But still this here that really sticks to a kid is violent behavior on parents, like abuse that is something that really sticks to a child

I really do think games like Resident Evil need less killing in them, I know there needs to be a sense of peril, but too many deaths can actually make things more comical than menacing, however, people who blame video games for all their problems are just being stupid.

I have to say, this image was both cool and disturbing. I'm a big fan of the RE franchise. Jill would have to put a baby zombie down but it's still really bad that a baby got killed.

Really good pic. Like others have said, interesting topic too.

Well, bad parenting and psychosis sometimes.
But I agree with this. I grew up playing Doom and Duke Nukem and Resident Evil. I was picked on a lot in school. Yet...I didn't go on a shooting rampage like Columbine...what's the difference, then?
Parenting and possible mental illness, I'd say.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SeriojaInc In reply to HeathenGlamour [2008-12-04 19:28:33 +0000 UTC]

and peer pressure perhaps...remember the shootings at that particular school involved a group of bullied kids..

LanternBat [2008-11-28 03:28:03 +0000 UTC]

I must say that this is very nicely done. It just goes to show that parents are willing to blame anything they want as an excuse for bad parenting.

Personal example: My father's life was going absolutely nowhere, dead end job, bad health, no personal life, and a temper like a bundle of dynamite. Instead of fixing things all he did was take his anger out on me and blame some kind of imaginary society of old jewish ladies who are out to ruin his "good name." In the end, his poor habits and attitude killed him with, not one, but two strokes.

So bad parents don't just blame video games and other violent forms of media, but other people as well.
