Description

This one has been in the studio for awhile waiting for me to figure out how finish it. I am still unsure if I like the lower portion of the piece.
Acrylics and pastel on wood.

You usually ground your images in some way, maybe this is why you're uncertian about it. I think the ambuguity of such a majority of the picture's surface makes it seem a little off. :/ In other pieces, I've seen you use clouds, shadows, other picture elements such as keys and/or circles, or simply placing the main object in a symetrically or asymetrically balanced way, and somehow the picture is complete.
Yes, waiting could bring the answer. Sometimes the simplest thing can tie it together.

Yes the grounding gives a sense of depth and place. Thank you much for your thoughts on this.

It seems to be an allegory of the journey of the mind, the flux of imagination that has the power to fly and go beyond reality. In its simplicity is really an impressive work...I'm so in love with it.

Woah. You can leave something then finish it later? How do you do that? (It's a skill I need to learn in my busy busy life)
And I really like the outline of the clouds in the middle!!

I have to leave pieces sometimes. When I look at a piece with fresh eyes, I see problems in the piece or I get a new idea for the piece.
I don't know if it is a skill. It is just something I do.
Thanks!

I think it looks really wonderful. There's a heavy balance of dark at the top and light-brightness at the bottom, but I think it works beautifully, balancing out in its own way. The red and shape of the balloon create such great interest and contrast of colour, and the subtle clouds add so much throughout the rest of the piece. I love how the colours keep coming back to that paler yellow of the clouds. Wonderful!

Very flowing.
It seems to me that the little red balloon is transporting the leaf to somewhere safe so the leaf can heal or recover.

I like this piece very much, it has a calming effect on me.

Now, this enable me to see two different things and admire both. I love the balloon...or boat-loon, XD And how it is so light on top and darkens deeply toward the bottom hemisphere.
...
And I also love and have loved the way you always do your backgrounds. Always! I love your brushstrokes.

I really like the dark brown at the top! I think adding a dramatic perspective would give the piece more impact. Also, some more detail of how the wires connect to the balloon would make the balloon more. . .real, I guess.

You also have great eye for alignment, and it makes really nice feeling in these.
