Story: Asmita was the fourth in a litter of five, and the youngest female. Her father was a strong and silent type who worked for the family and her mother was a strict but caring parent who expected her children to live life by the books and to be every bit as good as or better than their predecessors. She dedicated her life to the education and training of her offspring. She and her husband had decided how many children they wanted and when exactly they wanted to have them, and she spent the first four years of Balin's life pregnant, which left the children close in age. Tavisha and Asmita were the only girls, and Tavisha was bigger than Asmita in every way.

Asmita was the runt, and when she finally came of age and got her horns and tail, she still had little to show on her brothers and sister but dedication. Balin, the eldest, and she were very close. Asmita was teased by the other siblings, and her parents, while they did not pick on her, believed that the editing of the children's behavior toward her would be pampering and render her weak and incapable of standing up for herself in a harsh, unforgiving world. Balin stepped in where nobody else would, defending her against the other children and teaching her when Mother was busy teaching the others. Asmita was eager to learn, and by 15, she had closed the gap. Her extra work and practice made her as strong as Everhart, and by 17, she was able to stand up to Tavisha. She was praised for her sudden growth, but the fact that it had been harder for her was not left unforgotten by the family. She was still the runt.

Something else grew while Balin spent endless weeks with her. One of the few people to whom she looked up to, Balin quickly had become a crush, although at the time, she hadn't noticed it. When she realized she had real feelings for him, she attempted to hide them at first. She buried herself in romantic tales and talked about them all the time with him instead, secretly confessing things without ever committing to the statements at hand. But Balin wasn't fooled for long, and to her keen luck, did not shun her affection. They had found love, albeit somewhat forbidden and a bit naive.

The ignorance didn't last long.

During her 17th year, Balin decided it was no longer appropriate to hide what they were doing from their parents. He went to speak to their mother, because he thought that she might understand. A fight broke out, and Balin didn't defend himself. Their mother screamed and called him a traitor to the family. Asmita burst in to try and stop the fight, and in her rage, her mother swung wide and sent Asmita to the floor, blood dripping from her mouth and her left canine accidentally swallowed with the impact to the wall. The pain shook the young Nidoqueen and sent her into a frenzy. She raised up and struck back, catching her mother off guard. When she realized what she was doing, she was held against Balin's chest, restrained and crying, with their mother bleeding and immobile on the floor. The two of them panicked.

They ran away before their father came home, taking what they could pack and the money that their parents hid in the top drawer. They changed their last name and masqueraded as a married couple as they ran, sweeping their tracks behind them.
