Crazy In a good way.
I love the head as I can't really imagine how its done on the inside. And the detail and clean look off the raincoat's inner side amazes me too.

SewLolita In reply to 1anina [2010-02-09 03:58:54 +0000 UTC]

the head's done with layers, wire, wool, and fluff- it's actually pretty messy looking under the skin

Thankyou

Love, love, love it. Adore the movie, and this is such a good interpretation, without being a straight copy of the movie doll. Brilliant work. (I'm always so impressed by doll makers.)

Beautiful
Do you mean $250 or $2.50?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

SewLolita In reply to Phantomness-2005 [2009-07-22 08:44:41 +0000 UTC]

*internet is being stange, sorry if this a double- reply* $250, they're hand sewn and take a ridiculous amount of time. I'm also selling the pattern, for $7, if you'd like to make one for yourself

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Phantomness-2005 In reply to SewLolita [2009-07-22 21:16:21 +0000 UTC]

I'll consider buying the pattern - is the pattern strictly for Coraline, or is it easily modified to become other people?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SewLolita In reply to Phantomness-2005 [2009-07-23 01:19:57 +0000 UTC]

easily enough
So long as you're happy with a seam over the middle of the face, it can be used as is and dressed differently, if you just sew the mouth of the under-skin closed and use a bigger peice of cloth for the face of the over-skin you can get rid of that, too. (actually, that'd be easier to sew, now that i think of it.

Phantomness-2005 In reply to SewLolita [2009-07-23 05:21:42 +0000 UTC]

Okay :3 A few questions then:
Does your pattern include the clothing, in its entirety? Also, does it tell me how I should do the hair and what buttons I should use?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SewLolita In reply to Phantomness-2005 [2009-07-23 07:34:09 +0000 UTC]

it does have patterns for the clothing and shoes, how to stick the hair on, and the pattern peices print with button-sized placement markings.

don't worry- i'm obsessive too...you don't even want to know how long this took

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MasteroftheWicked In reply to SewLolita [2009-07-12 17:57:36 +0000 UTC]

I would wanna buy one from you but I cannot afford it but you deserve a high paying price since you took so long to make it and the materials prolly cost money toz. I bet it took forever.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SewLolita In reply to MasteroftheWicked [2009-07-14 02:18:56 +0000 UTC]

they take between 28 and 32 hours, depending on humidity - a lot of the materials are vintage (nice way of saying 'found at a thrift store' so didn't cost a lot. I'm selling them for $250 plus postage if through paypal, or $280 or so -varying with how long it takes- through etsy, since etsy takes a massive chunk in fees for more expensive items.
*grins* consequently, i've not sold many, as they cost a pile. the pattern has been selling very well though

Hey even if your not getting paid youve still got talent

I wish I could make velvet dolls I should try it sumtime- I did make a doll out of clay but that is about all.

I made this ---> [link]

And that is as much as mu doll talent goes. I cant sow worth crap. lol!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SewLolita In reply to MasteroftheWicked [2009-07-14 04:20:32 +0000 UTC]

*grins* sculpting in clay (or maths, but everyone except maths geeks says sculpting is easier) is the main way to make detailed patterns, though. *is writing a book on how it's done* sewing is just a matter of buying a sewing machine or having much patience
^_^

How cute is your movie? I love it!

*hated homework- it was one of those devices to try equal out grades by removing as much actual aptitude as possible from the equation and replacing it with having free-time and volition to do busy-work* it's nearly as bad for the top students as effort-based grading, IMHO

MasteroftheWicked In reply to SewLolita [2009-07-14 13:10:41 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad that you like it! That took me 6 weeks to make (holy moley riite?)

Oh good your writting a book! Look at you! Thats awesome!
See I never learned how to loop stich ect... I know their is deffinate ways to sew and I just dont know about that.. I think our school skipped teaching up that stuff... haha!

Oh and by the way I totally know what you mean! It's compleatly unjust ! Just because a student cannot pass the test that is creatd to trick and conive a young mind dosnt mean that the student is completly hopelsss and should be hron out - that talent isnt in the tests that one can succeed the talent is tley seeing the test is a bull-crapand that you know your god at something and it is possible a career can be made out of it.(Dang this is a long message haha!)

0_0 maaan, you're patient. I'd probably get bored before the second week

In regards to sewing- it's generally not taught in schools, but most libraries will usually have a few books on it *grins*
