I didn't want to submit any more of these movie scenes that I do...'it's not really art if you're just copying an image'
but I'm just so happy to have managed to draw Ralph Fiennes!

First off never apologize for referencing. You bring what you bring to the image and no one can copy that. This is in it own right a piece of art because you created this world. You made me believe this is Ralph Fiennes. This is art you are the world builder and the images you make are true to you.
Good artists copy, great artists steal.

Traditional artist aka the masters i.e. Rembrandt,van Gogh, Reuben. All started from copying. Van gogh would start his day drawing from charles barque book of drawing.
Referencing is not a four letter word. You must see in order to create. Keep practicing and developing your visual skill as well as your imagination and eventually they will meet.
