Description The reserve wildland fleet is stored at the Fleet Services Shop on Cherry St. in the Lower East Side district of East Princeton. The Princeton Fire Department operates two types of reserve apparatus: active reserve apparatus and yard reserve apparatus. Active reserve apparatus are partially equipped, reducing the amount of equipment frontline companies have to transfer between apparatus, allowing them to return to service sooner, and are redesignated with a three-digit unit number using the "4" prefix. Yard reserve apparatus do not have equipment onboard, typically requiring more preparation to put them in service, and are redesignated with a three-digit unit number using the "5" prefix. The reserve fleet can also be activated with an overtime crew as a surge company if necessary. The Princeton Fire Department does not operate any active reserve wildland apparatus. The Fleet Services Shop is under command of the Fleet Services Battalion, Fleet Logistics Division.
