Description
A Goblin Well, Goblin Mound or Goblin Barrow, in the western slopes of the Nohalion Mountains.
The "wells" was a type of Goblin settlement, common among the green goblins of central Aels, the Waka Goblins or wakan.
The wells got their name for their construction method, in which the goblins set a camp in the surface, and began to dig down below vertically, constructing the walls and tower to protect the main entrance -however, often they added hidden tunnels, for escape or surprise-.
As they dug their underground holds, building and fortifying the entrance to their barrow, they often use the earth dug from their dwellings to built further defensive ramparts.
From the surface, the goblin mounds normally didn't looked very impressive, but it was as most of the population lived below the surface.
Many times, the Wells where used by hobgoblins and green orcs. As the Ur Dur became the predominant goblins, many of these wells where used by the cave goblins: however, often, without any maintenance or work put into them, many of these wells collapsed as the Ur Durs dug chaotically, without care for the foundations of the mound, with catastrophic results.
This is based on Fredrik K.T. Andersson goblin settlements. Very cool, look at them there!
