Description

The Advanced Infantry Armor KHY-12 - Kōdona hohei yoroi-.

The KHY-12 produced by Liahos Tech is an Advanced Power Armor produced for the Empire of the Three Houses, the Nodoror Empire.

From the first heavy infantry armors will be developed exosqueletons, and a further development would be the Advanced Power Armors: While this category will be used by several armies and nations, there would be quite diverse conceptions of it, it's size, firepower and role on the battlefield.

While in some cases -as in the military doctrine of the EUS and the Nutk nations- the Advanced Power Armors where to be an ultra-heavy infantry, within the Norodor Empire they will develope two kinds of APA (Advanced Power Armor): Heavy Armors -often closer to ultra-light mechs- and Advanced Infantry Armors. While  Heavy Advanced Armors where again in this role of heavy infantry support, Advanced Infantry Armors instead where extremly compact, and meant to be extremly agile and quick:

Equiped with boosters, capable of power boosts and controlled falls, it was used for atmospherical landing,  quick attacks and raids.

These armors would be too demanding on the wearer, and would be needed to specifically genetically engineer dreselandes mech pilots to use them, as non-dedicated, unmodified biological humans and clones couldn't use these demanding armors to their full capabilities.

In the hands of the Imperial Guard, the KHY series advanced infantry armors will gain a fearsome reputation: armored enough to sustain light infantry weapons, quick to be difficult to target by heavier weapons, it was a terrible enemy to face. however, one of the main problems it will face was the autonomy:

It simply drained it's battery life, and in prolonged battle scenarios the crew had to carry additional power cells, or be stranded in the middle of enemy territory.

While original only for internal use, as the Norodor Empire began to decomission some of their armors they will sell some Advanced Infantry Armors, and up to it's success, they will later as well create an exporation model.

The new users weren't casual ones, as they needed along with the Advanced Power Armors to have cloned pilots to use these machines.

One of these customers -in a very limited number- will be the military branch of Azimuth Pharmaceuticals, AZPHAR Private Military Division.

The military arm of Azimuth Pharmaceuticals basically utilize a wide variety of infantry armors, artillery guns, light armored vehicles (LAV), Armored Personal Carrier (APC), Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFV), Main Battle tanks (MBT), Self-propelled Anti-Aircraft Artillery and Missiles (SPAAG/SPAAM) for their land forces, aside of a variety of ultra-light, light, cavalry and medium mechs:

adding Power Armors was a late development, and some sat it was as result of their encounters with the unknown entity named the Laughing Swarm, needing to provide heavier fire support to their crews, while others think this instead a counter for Albertonian clones.

This diversity it mean problems for their logistics and as well when training the aFra's  -artificial human- crews, but is said they trade logistics for a variety of mechs to confuse their opponents, and is said they also deliberately use downgraded variants with less armor and other protection systems (without their crew knowing ) to either keep their opponents guessing as to what is their real strength, or because the operational costs of mechs.

For the long antenae on the helmets and the jumping and speed of the suits, sometimes they where nicknamed "Metal bunnies"

This kind of unit actually comes from long, long ago: did draw it largelly in 2009, that "training year" where while I did anatomy studies I tried to put them together in a sort-of-comic, where was faced shiks (corporative clones) and an invading force of the Norodor Empire armed with these armors...

And they come from before, from around 2006, while I still was in school, in that free-form roleplay game of nations I created, that will be the origin for fantasy and modern Aiers, and as well the Nebulosa of Ots.

Now, I'm sure quite a lot of you inmediatly recognice from what these armors come from: In 2006, I saw for the first time the anime Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, and quite loved the Hardsuits the protagonist wore, quite unlike anything else I had seen by then -thought there I didn't had much experience seeing series of mechas: only the US-adapation of 3 animes we know -and I love- of Robotech and a chapter here and there of Gundam-. I wasn't the only one who saw that serie these days, and as I was sketching these power armors, a classmate -who played the Norodor Empire- wanted to add them to the arsenal of his Imperial Guard.

I had largelly forgot of them, until recently when talking to a friend and linking some old 2009 drawings I have uploaded in dA.

While back then I largelly added things unmodified (as my classmates wanted), afterward I had been modyfing much of the stuff -so it's a bit more original, but not quite: I call this a process of bastardization... and damn, I'm quite used to bastardize so much!- but this wasn't much the case here: the suits are still basically the same.

The drawing of the open armors is a classic poster of Bubblegum Crisis Tokio 2040 of the character Nene in her Hardsuit.

Looks like something Shirow Masimune had come up with once.  Or at least I believe I've seen something like this before.  Too many damn powersuits running around!

Great designs and brilliant attention to detail as always, mate!
