I have a dog -a Boxer-.
He normally doesn't bark -unless-, UNLESS somebody it's on his spot. Then, he will bark endlessly. Because, well, that's his spot.
And his spot it's actually a bench where he sits quite uncomfortably, falling often as he fall asleeps. But that doesn't matter. That's his spot.

I find the smaller the dog the more sass they tend to have. Bigger dogs are better in my opinion.
