Finished it. This is how bad my portraits would look if I didn't do any blending. The only blending I did on this one was the hat (I think... It's so hard to resist the temptation to blend). So.... yeah. I hope my dad likes this drawing since I did it for him.WIPs:

It's funny that you should say this is 'bad' without the blending, because it looked almost like a photo from the thumbnail at least.

did a john wayne pic for my dad too. lol. but mine didn't turn out half as great. and i love the sketchy lines with out the blending, gives it some character and makes it come alive. i love it, PLEASE dont ever stop drawing!

I think the lack of blending helps convey the kind of gritty nature of John Wayne films, being a cowboy and all that.

On sketch paper I usually use qtips and sometimes tortillions. With Bristol I like to use blending stumps

Yeah, I haven't had much time to read them lately, but while I was reading and after I was done with the fourth book I loved it so much I just wanted to do nothing but scenes from the DT. I'll probably do a Roland portrait eventually, I just don't know when.
