I've thought about something along those lines myself but I'm too much of a wuss to get tattoos :/

Its for my grandfather who passed away in my care. He had brain cancer so he wasted away into a catatonic state astonishingly fast then became stable.

I was with him for ten months and he stopped walking in the first three and was unresponsive by the 5th. The reason why I dont get a symbol of healing is because while I was caring for him and healing as best as I could it was more like hospice because the outcome was never in doubt.

I loved him dearly because he was my surrogate father and father figure. The irony lies with the fact he was a very devout christian who hated tattoos and pagan gods with a passion.

I can't even imagine what going through something like that must've been like
His religion aside though, I do believe it's a beautiful symbol for it. When you know that with all the care you've provide there wasn't anything you could've done to prevent something inevitable then I think it does bring comfort to accept the things which simply are and can't be changed and view them in the most positive way you can.

My reasons for considering Ancient Egyptian style tattoos are very different but it's a long and silly story.

They really are pretty.
I got a really neat looking ankh from value village.
I wonder where its from though, because there isn't any company markings on it.

Funny, sometimes you find the best things where you least expect them. I got a ceramic Anubis night light off e-bay once of all places

great job ^^ what did u use to make his septer thing sparkle?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shadee In reply to pencilismymedia [2007-12-01 18:47:11 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!
I used a standard Photoshop lens flare for the scepter glow, so I cheated a bit there
I actually gave it a go in the original pencil piece but failed miserably unfortunately.

pencilismymedia In reply to shadee [2007-12-02 03:41:45 +0000 UTC]

yeah like i hv pieces that on some parts i want it to glow, but i dont hv anything to make it glow and i fail to make it glow in pencil

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shadee In reply to pencilismymedia [2007-12-02 12:51:06 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I've been looking for tutorials for it but I haven't been able to find anything so far. Anything that looks promising ends up being photoshop filter tutorials instead of actual pencil work
So yeah if you do come across something I'd love to hear about it. And I'll of course do the same
