TUMBLR | INSTAGRAMFull Pokemon team commission with a detailed background for the wonderful and patient ! This is the last but definitely not the least of my commissions for now and a fitting end to the current queue. I've done detailed commission before but this is no doubt the most ambitious one, with a full team and a detailed forest background.
The scene is about Claire's team exploring the dense forest of Ilex in Johto region and searching for the mythical shrine of Celebi in hopes of encountering the time-traveling legend. Will they find Celebi and the shrine? Who knows. At least they will get to enjoy the forest and each other's company!
The Pokemon designs come from the commissioner (here is their reference sheet and further explanations on what they are based on ) and not only is the team composition cool but the designs as well! I was the most excited about the Suicune design, which is based on a qiiln, because that is how I personally see and would interpret Suicune as well. And now I got the chance to draw it, too! The whole team was so much fun to draw since they had such good character descriptions and I was able to bring a lot of interaction and story in the picture.
I was also asked to draw some wild Pokemon in the picture - and there is a whole bunch of them! See if you can find and name them all! They're all Johto natives, of course.
I'm super happy with how this piece turned out! Definitely one of my favourite commissions I've done to date.

I think there was an official interview with one of the developers or something where they said that they wanted to make a Mega Flygon but hadn't come up with a good design for it. I wonder if Mega Pokemon will come back or if they are doing more regional formes now. We'll see!

Wow this is amazing! All the details are so beautiful and enchanting, but still give that eerie feel of the forest. I especially love all the extra pokemon hidden around on the background, definitely makes it feel more like the forests in the game where you constantly run into pokemon

It looks very cool. Detailed, and has a mysterious touch, kind of eerie, maybe, very fitting for the Ilex forest. I find it interesting how Pokémon can really be interpreted in various ways, like, that Stantler on the background is based on a deer, a stag, or a combination of both. Or the quillin/wolf Suicune. So far, I've found a Furret, Stantler, Noctowl, 2 Hoothoot, several Pineco, 2 Sentret and Celeby, aside frome the members of the team, are there more?

Thank you! I tried actually to go for the feeling I got from Ilex forest myself, which is a bit mysterious and eerie, so great to hear I managed to convey it!

I definitely noticed the Pineco...all three of them, I think. This is a fun picture to look at, especially with that challenge you issued. And props to draizor007 for having such great designs, for Suicune and Flygon especially.
