[On Tumblr] | [SPEEDPAINT VIDEO]A commission for of her character Thryskahl, who is originally a twilight lord in a dragon form. The dragon would also have an ultimate form, a mighty space whale.
I couldn't have been happier with the subject. Space things are always such a blast to draw and when doubled with a whale-dragon it becomes the definition of awesome. I had been wanting to draw both things, either whales or space, for a long time, and now I got to draw both! And I'm very happy with the result. One of my personal favourites I have done in a while.
The process was so much fun, too. By the commissioner's request I recorded the entire process from the initial sketch to the finished image and it's uploaded on Youtube (link above in the description). I hope it'll be interesting for you to watch! I had over seven hours of footage so I had to somehow squeeze it in a much smaller timeframe. Hopefully it's not too fast.

A whale in space does sound right up your alley! And of course you've rendered the thing masterfully! I just love how you did those streaming protrusions coming from its horns with those pearl-like beads which kind of look like trains of stars. Along with the sunken, yellow eyes, this thing reminds me a bit of mega rayquaza. Maybe with a bit of nidoking in it what with the purple skin and forehead horn. I love how that one streamer thingy makes a loop above its head to kind of suggest a halo which, along with the heavenly light it's bathed in makes this character appear almost angelic. And then there's the galaxy in the background... Man oh man do you make some beautiful galaxies, fantastic as ever!

It does, doesn't it! I could just draw space whales or any space things really. It's always so much fun.
Yeah the bead chain thingies reminded me of Mega Rayquaza, too. There's something about them that create a really overwordly and even godly impression.

The lights are so pretty! The orange and purple shades, as well as the whole 'flow' of the drawing give a really peaceful and heartwarming feeling. Really great!

Holy shit, Shinon, I just looked through the whole speedpaint and I can say this without questioning myself at all, that you are one of the most talented, hardworking inspiring artist I have ever seen! I literally felt emotionally touched, from start to finish of the speedpaint, and the music!!
Ahhh, the music. Just like your art, it is breathtaking and could be described simply as majestic and extremely beautiful. I'm at a loss of words..
Welp, but as I said before, Shinon, you are one of the greatest artist that inspires me so so so much and I'm truly grateful that you make such marvelous art, not just for me but for everyone to look at, experience and enjoy!
