Finally finishing up this Smaugust challenge! I started this challenge last year but didn't manage to complete it. I'm now almost done with the remaining pieces and I'll be posting them in the following days!. You can find the prompt list here .

Motmot dragons present the most interesting shift from a bird that was mostly prey to larger animals into a dragon that hunts for larger creatures. It uses its tail to lure in its predators, but instead of fleeing last minute it attacks with its barbed mouth. It is uncertain whether motmot dragons have evolved to develop a venom that knocks out the catch or if it has learned to utilize venom from poison dart frogs that were previously a part of its diet. Motmot dragons would have dazzling tails if they weren't so brittle and easily damaged when used as lures.
