[On Tumblr]For 's Fire type collab.
I got Charmander which was wonderfully simple after Giratina and quite relaxing to draw. I went with a more saurian look with this. Charmander could as well be a little chubby salamander thing but I found this one small dinosaur, whose name I can't remember, that had the kind of anatomy that I felt would fit Charmander and that would also remain consistent thorough the evolutionary line.

That's cute. I like the saurian interpretation, Charmander's design never really seemed all that salamander like, or Charmeleon for that matter. And I like the lizard feet, it looks like it's more comfortable scrambling around on all fours instead of standing.
Also you can definitely see a hint of Charizard in there with the pronounced chest and neck. I never really noticed how different they looked in the official art. The only details they have in common are the flame tail and color scheme.

Thanks! Yeah, the body structure just doesn't seem amphibian at all. I just think it's the concept that's inspired by salamanders, you know, how salamanders are connected to fire in mythology and all that stuff.
I think I could also draw the rest of the line at some point, too. It would make a p cool series. And the mega forms as well. Maybe.

Awesome design, I love how the fire light reflects off the scales. You can see that this little guy will become the most awesome monster when it grows up. ;u;
