UPDATE
right... i've tried two more styles (the lion looking male on the left and the fire coloured mare on right), and then i've "crossed" random pairs and designed the offspring... the pairings are each mare on top row with the male underneath her. the offspring is under the two parents. not bad, indeed! ^^
now i have a very odd looking herd! XD

BTW, these designs and pairings mean nothing at all! they are totally random, mere experiments that may or not be used in the future.
so, you should not consider any of these in you contest entry! i'd rather choose the character's styles myself after the names and stories you make.

okay, let's see how can i explain this...

if you've read my journal ([link] ), you should know i'm running a contest to find a name and a story for this character of mine (the horse in this picture, [link] ). in that journal i've wrote a few demands about the style i wanted to see in the characters that people might submit... what you see in this picture is what i meant by "extended markings" - natural markings that have been overgrown and exagerated to make unusual shapes...
anyway, the two on top are mares, the two on bottom are males (yeah, re-used lines... XD), and the grey male is supposed to be the very same stallion that needs
a name and a backstory. i've left the hip symbol out...

hope you like it!

btw, any sugestions on names and stories (as well as contest entries) will be very welcome!

time taken: humph... 'bout an hour for each lineart (one for the male, one for the female), plus one hour for the whole set of colours. that's 3 hours total.
