Carla continued her outwardly confident stride, but inside it was all so hazy and distant. The simple fact was that for the past thirty or so hours she was nothing more than a passenger in her own body.
She had no idea what had happened, the day started as just another boring day in retail hell. She was picking up clothes in the changing rooms and had been jumped and that is where the blackout started. Next she was just standing there, waiting, staring. Then the first buzz.
The sharp buzzes in her temple were the only thing that she could react to, the intense pain would break the spell for a split second and her hand would shoot up to the side of her head. Then, just like that, whatever was in control would reassert and play it all off as a clearing of her hair or some other innocuous motion.
Buzzing, buzzing, buzzing, it had continued on since that point. Each buzz a new set of commands. First she stole some of the professional clothes, emptied the register and left in the middle of her shift. Next a short ride and she was at the Phoenix airport buying a ticket to Madrid. The motionless flight as she winked in and out as she felt pin pricks of knowledge filtering into her subconscious. Shocked, she heard her voice purchasing train tickets to Seville in Spanish, a language she didn’t speak.
All that lead her here, confidently striding through Seville. No idea what awaited her, no idea what she would be made to do. Carla knew the final, life altering buzzing couldn’t be far away...
