Description Yup, I drew up Jazz Jackrabbit from the DOS game I only played like once. Dangit, I wish I could get back to playing that game, it was rather cool playing something that has really fast gameplay other than that prickly blue hedgehog.
Anyways, I think I probably could have done without the prismacolors on this. However, in some areas it looks great (IE: the eyes, the gun [is it a gun?... seems like a small grenade launcher to me], and the bandana). I rather enjoyed working on this cause it brings back memories from the game... which are all making me miss it very much. *cries* I wanna play that game again ;-;...

Jazz Jackrabbit Β© Epic MegaGames, 1994 (I think that is when the game released)
Art Β© me (Shadou Kitsune; Jason B.)
Again... Scanners hate traditionally draw art >.> but this actually looks better at 76% original size.

Huh, well it's really great work, but I don't think it captures the feel they had for him.
He seemed more rough & ugly in most images, as if that was their intent. (i.e: gums visible)
As for playing them again, that's not a problem, though it's an old post so you probably
already found a way. Also I've heard the Epic games CEO's been twittering about Jazz recently.

Nice. I never really thought felt tip and pencil would work together, but I think it looks nice on this pic.

I haven't played the first one yet. I grew up with the second game. I should really get back to playing it again.

Jazz 2 is indeed a great game. It would've been nice to see the 3rd installment release but sad it never did.

I thank you for the comment and the fav ^^

I found my Jazz games and I'm probably going to be tempted to draw another picture of him sometime when I'm bored enough to do so.
All-in-all... I believe Jazz games died off sooner than they should have.

That's indeed True! ^^
I'm still hoping that Epic will use their Unreal3 engine in order to create a new Jazz Jackrabbit game!
... well... one can only dream!

Alongside of Sonic and Rayman, he's still an old favourite of mine. It's nice to get the older games out once in a while!

Jazz is one of my favorites along side of Sonic. When I first played the first Jazz game, it actually took my attention away from Sonic for the first time.
Thank you for your comment and the fav ^^

I suppose you've already stumbled accross Jazz 2 online [link]

Its a jazz jackrabbit fansite & they've got all the info you ever dared want to know about Jazz Jackrabbit.

Oh yeah, and you can get two different versions of Jazz Jackrabbit: Holiday Hare for free. There was one made in '95 aaaaand I think one in '94.... or was that '96? I can't remember So those two are freeware. One episode each.

There is also a Jazz Jackrabbit for GBA. Though they messed it up because they tried to re-envision Jazz and basically made it, uhm, not Jazz anymore.

Then there's editions of JJ2 up the wazoo. JJ2, JJ2: The Secret Files (new playable character and episode), JJ2: Holiday Hare '98, and JJ2: The Christmas Chronicles (which is just HH98, The Secret Files edition)

JJ3 was never released (never found a publisher )

I may bookmark the page so I can go back to it for later reference. Thank you for the information ^^

I actually have gotten the opprotunity to get back to Jazz Jackrabbit (many thanks to ~tommychan , IE the person who had done the previous comment). Now I don't miss Jazz (and Spazz from Jazz 2) that much anymore XD
Thank you very much for the fav and the comment ^^

jazz! i remember playing 1 and 2 and the holiday version

soo smooth and quick, and nice variety of weapons to play with. fav was the bouncy blue bomb thingies that look like blue pills...forgot if that was in 1 or 2. >_>;

yea, and agree he does look like bucky o' hare, besides the obvious green simillairitieisiitssi....however you speel it... ><;;

they should have made a jazz jackrabbit cartoon series. i think it would be as popular as sonic...

ah yea, great work on the piccy! wow lotsa hours on it o.o;

Yes, I did I had that program beofre but I had no knowledge of DOS at that time... now I think I might be able to work it though not sure how it'll work on Windows XP

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

tommychan In reply to ShadouKitsune [2006-02-10 00:02:56 +0000 UTC]

it's just like an emulator. its a winXP program that emulates a dos environment, so it runs just like if you had a real computer with dos in it

just make sure you type those commands in the note correctly, and it should work.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ShadouKitsune In reply to wonderswan [2006-01-22 01:29:32 +0000 UTC]

I've never played Jazz 2 (is that the 3D one? if it is I most likely didn't like it enough to try it *prefers 2D side-scrolling games*).
It was hard to try to get it look like him because I couldn't find any good pictures of him. The ones I had to go off of for his appearance wasn't real good (plus they were really small). This happened to be almost one full sheet of paper (roughly 8 by 10 inches).
Thank you ^^

Wow, I really like your coloring in this! It stands out a lot The pose is unique as well, and the lineart looks very smooth. The right hand looks a liiittle small to me, but that's probably due to the perspective. X3 Great job in any case Shadou, you're getting better and better at traditional art!

ShadouKitsune In reply to rabid-cabbit [2005-12-19 21:40:37 +0000 UTC]

heh Thanks Lenore ^^ I'm practicing more since I'm starting to get more materials for traditional art that I know how to work with such as coloring pencils, ink pens, etc. The pencils and paper I need not worrk about since I have those in surplus amounts
I do see what you mean though... I'm still working on my drawings to be a little more... accuratly in depicting better anatomy. It's not always successful, but I still have the room to improve on it when I get the opprotunity to do so.
You may try my recent submission if you haven't already looked at it.

don't worry, it's not any of those 30-day trials. The only limitation is that you can only do the first chapter...

I may try it, though I am kind of picky when it comes to games... i don't really like demos or shareware stuff... just cause it leaves me wanting it more when i can't use it anymore... same forthe goes for free trials...

Ironically, that is how I was reminded of Jazz. I actually searched through google image search with Bucky O'Hare, and in one of the results had a fanart picture of both Bucky and Jazz. So ever since then I haven't gotten Jazz off my mind cause I liked the original game so much.
