I like how the subject is still in colour while the rest is greyscale; something I've tried a couple of times before with mixed results.
Yours worked out quite well! However, there's a bit of bleeding around the hair and scarf that could've been solved with a desaturation brush.
Also, there's a bit of clipping in the background sky.
Overall I like the picture though. The subject is crisp, has a nice expression on her face and I like the composition.

Thank you.
I know the photo could use a bit more editing, but i simply can't find the time for it.
I appreciate the comment though and i'm really glad you like the photo

cheers!

in photo terms, "burn in" means to make darker, more density.
to "dodge" means to make lighter, less density.

those 2 tools are used quite often to correct small problems with density and/or color.

for the hand, for example, you make a selection of the hand and then you work it with different tools to make it look good.
when you're finished, you delete the selection
when you've made the selection, if you don't want to see it because it is distracting in the work you're doing, you click on ctrl-h; and again the same if you want the selection outlines to appear again.

hope that helps.

very nice composition and technique;
i would just burn in the hand a little...

also, it's a little too red, but this might be what you want...

hope this helps.

hey there,
thanks for the comment and the suggestions. i wanted her to be a bit reddish to emphasize her hair colour. th other suggestion (''would just burn in the hand a little...'' i didn't quite understand

glad you like the photo, it means a lot

with "selections", you can change the color, or anything else in one part of the image and keep the rest the way it is. this way, you can make the hair redder and keep the skin color as is.

thanks a lot
i only recently started using photoshop to polish my pictures so i haven't yet developed the neccessary creativity for editing photos.
on the other hand, i still haven't set a limit in photoshop editing. most of the times i like my picturs as normal as they can be with only the basic features modified

same as what i like, most of my photos were only corrected for defects, and small adjustments have been made, but never more than necessary in order to meet the end result i wanted.

so they're not far from the original file.
