Description My take on the dragon skeleton (for my more 'advanced' dragons). Note! I meant to make the tibia and fibula longer.. the legs should be more elongated.. x.x I went more a more mammalian skeleton, since my advanced dragons are warm-blooded.

Reference animal skeletons used:

Wolf
cat
ostrich
monkey
alligator
velociraptor
bat

EDIT: Made double-scapulae for the wings, fixed the snout, and elongated the tibia and fibula.

This is awesome. My own dragon body structure fails hardcore, so I'm SO gonna use this as a reference. Your stuff is so well-thought out. <3

No, my draconic anatomy does- attaching the wings, and the hind legs, always pwns me.

Totally awesome. I like the way you worked in the wings...I always have problems figuring out how the attach with arms already there myself. They way you show it looks like it would work anatomically. Awesome.

Awww.. thank you! <3 One of the best things you can do when drawing skeletons is to reference the skeletons of real animals. Google was my friend.. XD

Good stuff. One thing though--while it's good to study real animals, you sometimes still must consider other things. Since this isn't a real animal, you kinda have to change a few things to make it work like one. Saying this because...the wings are pretty much separate limbs from the arms, and for them to work right they would most likely need another set of scapulae (shoulder blades), to be strong enough to flap and provide lift. Unless of course you give your dragon tiny T-rex like arms, in which case it wouldn't use the original scapulae for those, so that could work...

But other than that, this is very well done. I love that skull! It looks really awesome. :0

I actually thought about the extra scapulae thing, thought it would be more appropriate.. then just.. forgot XD (I have the short-term memory of a turnip ) I'll have to fix that.. XD

Thank you!

It's nice to see that your art process involves deep study on how your creature is constructed... it's quite a pity that most artist reject even simplest anatomical insight. I sure hope exterior of the dragon will be as detailed as interior..

Thank you! I started out pretty poorly on dragons (everyone's gotta start somewhere ). Fortunately, I have some friends who have been really helpful with critique ("you need to look at skeletons and muscles!").
