Natalia sighed as Ivan sped away from her once again. A girl could only handle so much rejection before it started to take its toll. It seemed she had poor luck with every person she met, they all grew terrified of her and avoided her at all costs.

Today was another world meeting, another day of being avoided. Natalia walked into the conference room, Ivan cowered in his seat, Katyusha quivered and appeared close to tears, and Toris waved and shivered. The only real reason Toris claimed he loved her, was that he could use her to keep Ivan away from him. Natalia felt truly alone in the world.

Natalia’s head snapped up as she saw a new face. A male with (e/c) eyes and (h/c) hair smiled and introduced himself as (y/n). Natalia tilted her head with interest as he walked over and sat across from her.

The meeting ended not long after it began, resulting in nothing getting resolved as usual.

Natalia took long strides out of the room, quick to escape. She was suddenly stunned when she bumped into someone. She landed on her rear and scowled until she looked up to see (y/n).

“I’m so sorry! Are you ok?” (y/n) smiled as he held a hand out to her. Suck kindness felt so foreign to the cold female. Natalia blushed once her eyes met his (e/c) ones, upon closer inspection, they almost seemed to sparkle.

“I’m fine” she blushed and shook her head before standing without taking his hand, brushing her skirts and quickly leaving.

“Dude, Belarus is totally going to kill you now! Nobody even so much as looks at her without getting stalked or maimed by her!” Alfred gasped

“Belarus? Oh you mean the girl I bumped into” (y/n) murmured

“She’s Russia’s creepy stalker sister” Alfred laughed

“She certainly didn’t seem creepy to me” (y/n) shrugged

“You have a weird taste in women!” Alfred slapped a hand on his shoulder as (y/n) blushed

“I-I’m just saying she didn’t act creepy or anything!” (y/n) stammered

*Natalia’s POV*

How can I possibly be falling for a man I just met?! I tried to get his face out of my thoughts. Sadly, it was easier said then done. I thought after being warded off by Ivan, I would learn to stay away from men. I just couldn’t help myself.

Over the weeks, I increasingly felt myself drawn to (y/n), much like I was with big brother. I wanted to see him more and more each passing day. I knew if I followed him or threatened marriage, he’d run for the hills or join Ivan in a fort to keep me away. I couldn’t afford to mentally face rejection and seclusion again.

My phone ringing alerted me to my senses as I walked over to answer it. I was perplexed as to who would possibly call me.

“Hello?” I asked

“Hello, Belarus. This is (c/n)! I was wondering if you’d like to join me for lunch today” I paused as I registered the sound of his voice. Was this a joke? Was he actually asking me on a date? Is it considered a date?

“Uh, lunch sounds nice” I murmured

“Great! I’ll pick you up at noon” his voice chirped as he hung up the phone. I looked at the clock and it was only 10:30. I had plenty of time to shower and change. It felt strange that (y/n) asked me to be near him. Normally, the most he’d do is wave and make small talk at world conferences.

Once I heard my doorbell ring, I felt giddy with excitement. I had to calm myself down before I opened the door. (y/n) was dressed in casual attire, a plain (f/c) shirt and jeans. My face was burning as I looked at him and realized I was staring as I looked away.

“Ready to go?” he asked as I nodded and grabbed my purse.

“I was thinking of going to (favorite restaurant), how does that sound?” he asked

“That’s fine” I muttered as I blushed when he opened the car door for me. We both sat in a non-awkward but non-comfortable silence.

We arrived to the restaurant and (y/n) and I chatted about simple things. I watched him carefully and mentally memorized his face.

“I don’t know why but everyone thinks you’re creepy. They told me you stalked Russia and tried to get him to marry you” (y/n) mentioned and I felt my heart freeze in its place.

“What do you think of that? Are you afraid?” I asked in a hushed tone and avoided his gaze

“Of course not!” my head snapped up to look at him in disbelief. Was this man crazy?

“If I had a beautiful girl following me and asking for my hand in marriage, I’d be crazy to say no!” He laughed and gave me a warm smile.

Those few words were all it took to thaw my heart. It felt as though a weight on my shoulders had been lifted. A man actually wasn’t afraid of me, or didn’t think I was creepy. I blushed as I recalled him calling me beautiful.

“Since you already know my human name, can I know yours?” he asked

“Natalia…” I mumbled

“That’s a really pretty name” he smiled as I blushed and gave him a small smile in return

(y/n) and I finished our meals and left the restaurant. I blushed as (y/n) walked me to my door and blushed. I looked up at him as he shyly rubbed the back of his neck and looked down at me.

“I had a lot of fun today, I hope we can go on another date again soon. Wait! I mean- It’s not a date unless you want it to be!” He panicked and blushed darker then before. I smiled as I leaned up and kissed his cheek. He blushed and held the spot where I kissed him.

“I’d very much like to go on another date with you again soon” I murmured as I turned to enter my house. A feeling on my wrist turned my attention back to (y/n). He leaned down and softly kissed me. It felt gentle and warm to me as I closed my eyes.

“I’m sorry, I just really wanted to do that” he explained as I blushed

“See ya Natalia” (y/n) waved goodbye as I stood on my porch, my lips tingling and me gaping at him like I’ve been struck by lightning. I rushed into my house and slammed the door shut. I slumped down against the door as I clutched my racing heart to settle it.

“I think I love him…” I sighed dreamily as I closed my eyes in content.
