(y/n) watched as Yao gracefully balanced on one leg, whilst slowly raising the blade of his sword. Yao was your teacher after begging him to teach you to fight and defend yourself.

“Focus is the key to winning” Yao muttered as his sword lunged and slashed a peach into two perfect halves. He handed you one as he bit into his piece.

“Will I ever be a good fighter like you?” you asked the taller country as he smiled and nodded.

“Someday, you’ll be able to beat me in a match” he chuckled as you took the peach pit out of the fruit. Yao gently grabbed it and walked over to a small space a few feet away from the koi pond. He dug a small hole and dropped the pit inside.

“What did you do that for?” you asked as you wandered over to the pond and stared at the fish.

“That little peach pit may be a seed now, but one day, it will grow into a strong peach tree. Like you, look at the water closely” Yao murmured as you glanced at the water until you gazed at your reflection.

“The girl I see now, will grow into a strong woman. All she needs is time, like the peach pit” Yao ruffled your hair as you smiled.

You were now slightly older than you once were. Your government and economy were now beginning to steady itself. Your training was now coming along better than before. The peach pit that was once a seed was now a seedling. Not a sprout, but not yet full grown.

“You are making very good progress” Yao smiled as he balanced an apple on your head. You balanced on one leg as Yao armed a bow with an arrow. If you stayed still, Yao will shoot the apple off your head without injuring you.

You closed your eyes as Yao shot the bow. A soft gust of wind blew your hair as you saw the apple behind you with the arrow clean through it.

You continued practicing throwing punches and kicks as Yao watched your progress. You suddenly felt something brush against your ankle. A snake slithered the ground near your feet as you shrieked and ran away.

“It’s only a snake, (y/n). It won’t harm you” Yao gently picked up the snake and held it. You approached it as your teacher held it. The snake lifted its head and stared at you with its slit eyes.

“Here,” Yao took your hand and gently brushed your fingers over its scaled head. It felt smooth like a stone.

“See? It’s not so bad” Yao muttered as he walked over and placed the snake near a patch of bamboo as the reptile slithered away, merrily on its way.

Centuries had passed and now you were a woman. The little peach pit now towered as a proud peach tree. It’s delicate flowers and petals floated in the wind as you practiced with your sword that was bestowed upon you by Yao.

*Yao’s POV*

“Yao, what do I get to learn today?” she smiled as I beckoned her over to the fish pond. I blushed a little whenever I was near her. She has grown to be beautiful, more beautiful than the peach blossoms that were in full bloom, showing their true glory.

“See that woman in the water? I remember when she was a small country. Now she is full grown. Only she knows what you need to learn.” I answered

“I think I see my answer” she spoke as I turned to look at her.

“What would that be?” I asked as she blushed lightly

“I am missing what every good fighter needs” she explained as I tilted my head. I was curious what she meant.

“I am missing love” she murmured softly as she walked over to the peach tree. Her hands rested on the trunk and caressed the bark.

“I could teach you….” I blushed darker as she turned and looked at me, her (e/c) eyes meeting my brown ones.

“I will learn all that I can” she muttered as her lips met mine. I was stunned for a moment until I relaxed. Her fingers untied my ponytail from its hold. My hair fell and she smiled into the kiss.

“Now you are finished with training. I have nothing left to teach you…” I chuckled as she hugged me. I wrapped my arms around her and held her close.
