Description These aren't the heavy storms with the violence of thunder & lightning.

This is that feeling that you're going to get drenched at ANY moment, just as soon as she's ready to let go.

12x18in photoshop. it's taken me 2 years to finish her (different attempts in different mediums)

This is fantastic (as, I should mention, is the rest of your gallery ), I love the lack of colour/excessive contrast, it's really impressive how you've made the piece impactful without resorting to darkening everying far too much, as a lot of people seem to.

But I like it a lot

I tend to slip in and out of various styles, but overall they're tall, slender, and 'slightly' cartoony. it depends on the piece (got me in trouble a few times in college, because my pencil looked different than my paintings)

I don't normally like greyscale paintings, especially ones not heavily contrasted, but I think it works well with your piece

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shadowgirl In reply to elestrial [2007-05-23 16:35:09 +0000 UTC]

i checked out a contrasier(that a word..?) version and it was way too harsh. so i didn't use any whitewhites or blackblacks.. just 100% greys

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

elestrial In reply to shadowgirl [2007-05-23 17:13:04 +0000 UTC]

Okay, I think the grays work better with the picture. Rain is usually a groggy-gray subject, so I think it works better

PS: I went to your website to see if I could get a print (I use Firefox web browser) and on the page for this: [link] a lot of the test is black on black for some reason (so I can't read it without highlighting the page...)

shadowgirl In reply to jaspenelle [2007-05-23 17:44:53 +0000 UTC]

i went and looked at it, i'm getting the same thing... so i posted to get some help on my LJ, and so far the other people see the text just fine! I'm soooo lost lol I'll try and figure it out though.

did you want print info? I can do 8x12 (12.00) and 12x18 (22.00 - actual size)

I will ask my husband (website designer) when he gets home if you would like? Maybe he can shed some light on the problem

(Btw thanks for the print info!)

that's a nice way of seeing it I actually didn't think of that at all, and a few of my pieces suggest a 'life giving' in there past just objects

manslaughterer [2007-05-23 11:23:08 +0000 UTC]

wonderful - I like that you did it all grey

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shadowgirl In reply to manslaughterer [2007-05-23 11:57:19 +0000 UTC]

she started off in color, but I always go and hit greyscale to check shades, and to just..see what it looks like, and never went back to colo

manslaughterer In reply to shadowgirl [2007-05-23 12:08:34 +0000 UTC]

I find it great in s/w - I just don't want to see the colour version. I like it as it is. And I hope you do, either

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

shadowgirl In reply to manslaughterer [2007-05-23 13:23:33 +0000 UTC]

I do Or it would've been in color.

I've got the WIP's uploaded in color, but they weren't going as I wanted (And this is like the 3rd or 4th attempt at drawing her, the others were just not working and I stopped halfway through)

I love this! It's so well done. Though my only thing is that how, with the texture of the cloth, there's no leakage?

shadowgirl In reply to dimezanime88 [2007-05-23 11:56:12 +0000 UTC]

heh. i should go back and add some (maybe it's latex?)
i'll look at her in a few days, have to fix her face a bit as well
