Description I arrived at the resort and checked in with the front desk a little before 5pm that fateful night, unaware of the how my life would be affected latter. As the desk attendant gave me my pass key, she also handed me a rather exquisite looking old parchment envelope with just my first name on it.

"Pardon me, what is this?" I asked rather confused.

"I am sorry Sir, I was just asked to give this to you when you checked in and to tell you that your dinner companion would be arrive at 8pm." The desk clerk replied with a smile and a shrug.

"Thank you." I mumbled, as I turned away and looking at the key for my room number, I quickly returned to the desk much to the aggravation of the bellhop. "I am sorry to bother you again Miss, but this can't be my room number, I didn't reserve a suite."

"No Sir the room upgrade was part of the specific instructions that arrived with the envelope this morning. Is that a problem Sir?"

"No, no, not a problem just a surprise, I didn't tell anyone that I was coming here. Were there any other instructions that I need to be aware so that I don't bother you anymore?"

"No Sir, we were just instructed to upgrade your room to the best suite we had available as well as setting up a private meal for you and one guest and to give you that envelope when you arrived. I am sorry, I can't tell you anything else, I can call the manager if there is a problem?" She asked politely.

"No that's OK I am sorry for bothering you, have a nice evening." I said and once again followed the bellhop to my room. After giving him a $20 for a tip to compensate him for his troubles and waiting for me, I closed the door and looked around.

The suite was huge, easily the size of a small house and far outside my budget for this trip. After putting my clothes in the dresser and hanging up the rest in the closet. I sat in one of the overstuffed chairs and looked at the envelope. The envelope had the look and feel of old parchment and had the smell of a very expensive women's perfume. My name was printed on the front with what was a very feminine handwriting. I broke the wax seal and extracted an even more exquisite card that was blank on the outside. Upon opening it there was but one sentence. "I am here to fulfill your greatest wish." I turned the card over to see if there was anything on the back and not finding any other writing I stared at the eight words that revealed nothing.

Looking at my watch and seeing that it was already after 6:15pm I quickly unpacked my ditty bag and stepped into a shower that would easily hold three people comfortably. I took my time to let the hot water drain the stress from my tired muscles that has seen too much traveling in the last 36 hours. After shaving and brushing my teeth, I wrapped a towel around my waist and walked over to the closet grabbing a simple pair of pants and polo shirt.
As I looked at what I had brought with me I noticed a garment bag with a tag on it hanging at the end of the closet.

With curiosity getting the better part of me I turned the tag around and let it go like I had been shocked. The tag had my name printed on it with the same handwriting from the card. Along with my name was a simple note, "I took the liberty of picking out a suit for you, don't worry I know it will fit perfectly."

Taking the garment bag and shoes I found sitting below it, I walked over to the bed and laid the bag down and opened it up.

Inside was a very expensive designer name suit complete with shirt and tie. Whoever had done this even knew that I did not know how to tie a tie and had pretied the tie for me.

As i sat there trying to absorb all that was going on, my cell phone started ringing. Without thinking or looking, I touched the screen to accept the call and spoke, "This is Roy."

"Well Hello Roy, I just wanted to remind you of our dinner in thirty minutes and if you keep standing there with your towel around your waist you will be late, and I hate to be kept waiting."

The voice sounded like angels singing, soft, sultry and inviting. For the life of me I couldn't think of anyone I knew that had a voice that beautiful, or how she could possibly know so much about me.

"I know that you are trying to figure out who I am right now, and I promise I will answer all of your questions in less than thirty minutes. So I suggest you get ready Roy, as I have already stated, I hate to be kept waiting. Bye." As the line went dead I looked at the number the call originated from, unlisted. Figures. Standing there looking at my phone for a long minute, I did the only thing I could think of, I got dressed, and pocketing my wallet, keys, room card and phone. As a second thought I picked up the card and slipped it into the jacket pocket as I walked out of the door to meet my mysterious dinner guest.

I entered the main building of the resort and walked into the restaurant, and stopped at the maรฎtre de's podium. I kindly older gentleman looked me over once with a disinterested glance and asked if he could help me.

With a slight shrug of my shoulders, I told him that I had been told I had dinner reservations for two and gave him my name. Immediately I felt as if I had just told them I was royalty, the Maitre De came around the podium and with a slight touch to my upper arm motioned with his other hand, "Right this way Sir, your guest just arrived and everything has been prepared as requested."

I was led to a back room that had been roped off with satin ropes and a placard that stated a private party was in progress.

Unhooking one of the ropes I was allowed to pass and the rope was reattached immediately behind me as I walked into the room. The room led out onto a patio where a single table had been prepared with a single silver ice bucket and a green bottle resting inside it on a bed of ice. The table was a polished silver with a glass top and flanked by two equally impressive chairs of polished silver and padded leather. Sitting in one of the chairs was the angel that must belong to the voice I had spoken to earlier. She stood as I approached and offered me her hand in way of greeting. I took her petite hand and gently kissed the silky smooth knuckles and giving her an appraising look as I straightened. She appeared to be about 5'8" in her very expensive heels. As my eyes continued up I saw her shapely legs wrapped in dark smoky grey stockings her dress was form fitting and very tasteful. I wracked my brain trying to figure out where I had met her before, but only drew a blank.

Looking up into my eyes, she smiled lightly and with a twinkle of her eyes, spoke. "You can try as hard as you like Roy, but you will not be able to figure out where we have met in the past, simply because we haven't. The simple fact is that I know you better than you know yourself, and I am here to fulfill your greatest wish."

Holding the chair for her as she sat, I walked around and sat in the chair opposite her with the table to our side. Looking at her again, I saw a blindingly beautiful woman that seemed to know so much about me, yet I could not even remember having met her once.

Clearing my throat, I asked the first think that I could get past my seemingly paralyzed lips, "You say that you know everything about me, but I certainly would have remembered meeting you. How do I know that you know everything you claim to know?"

With a smile and a slight gleam of mischief in her eyes, she started to speak. "Well Roy I could tell you about the time when you got caught in the closet kissing your friend Mary Beth when you were six right before you moved away. Or I could tell you about the time that you took the hair clippers to Taffy the family cocker spaniel and shaved her bald when you were eleven. I could even tell you about the time when you were seventeen and got caught in the girls locker room..."

With a quick raising of my hands in surrender, I interrupted. "OK...OK, you have obviously done your homework on me, but now that we know that, what do you want from me?"

"I want you to be happy Roy, I am here to give you what you want most. All I want is for you to be happy." She replied placing a hand on mine.

I could feel the heat radiate from her touch filling me with an almost intoxicating effect. Shaking my head slightly and blinking my eyes I weighed my next question carefully. "What is your fulfilling my greatest wish going to cost me?"

"All it is going to cost you is spending the rest of your life with me. I know what you secretly wish for and I can grant it to you, all that I require is you agreeing to spend the rest of your life with me being happy."

"And what is it that will make me happy?" I asked wonder just how well she really knew me.

"You want to be happy, just like everyone else, only you want to forget what you have learned about yourself. You want to be able to see the good in the world, and not have it overshadowed by the hate, cruelness and suffering that you have been witness to. I can give that back to you, all you have to do is agree to spend the rest of your life with me."

Looking at her, I could feel my world spinning in more directions than I could comprehend. I felt like I was going to be sick one second, and the next it felt like a weight was being lifted off my soul, followed by guilt that I might actually take her up on it. "OK, say I do take you up on this, what happens to me? Do I jsut disappear, never to be seen or heard from again? What about my obligations to my Ex-Wife and children? What about my job and the people who depend on me there? I can't just walk away from all of that, based on what you say you can promise."

Leaning forward, she placed a hand on my knee and squeezed gently, "You won't disappear Roy, you simply won't be that Roy anymore. If you say yes, the Roy that you are will still exist, you just won't be a part of it anymore. You will become someone new, A new body that I will give you. One that is fitting as my new companion, a young new healthy body that is free from the stresses and hardship your current body has suffered under. If you say no, you will simply continue as you are, and we will part ways having spent a wonderful date together. Nothing more, nothing less."

I sat stunned for a moment, and tried to wrap my head around what she had just told me, "So you are saying if I say yes, I will become two people? And what about this new body what would I look like?"

Patting my knee like an adult would when a small child asked a silly question, she removed her hand from my knee and reached into the ice bucket and removed several pieces of ice. Placing sever pieces in line she looked up at me.

"This is how your life currently looks, a straight line from one point to the next as your life progresses. Now if you say no this is how your life would continue up until the day of your death. Follow me so far?"

I nodded my head yes, as she reached back into the bucket and removed several more pieces of ice. "Now if you say yes, This Roy will continue to exist as he always has and will until he dies, but you will no longer be Roy from the point you say yes."Laying several pieces of ice out to create another line that ran parallel to the first one and then connected it with a diagonal line, she continued. "You will become a new person in a body that I will create for you. You will become my companion, someone that has been freed from the worries and hardships they have endured. Someone that can look upon the world again with new eyes and perspective. Eventually you will embrace your new life and forget that you were ever Roy."

Looking at her stunned, There was only one question I could think of, "Why me?"

With a smile that held no trace of anything but love and adoration, she stood up and as I watched stunned, came and sat across my lap.

"As I have told you and witnessed, I have been watching you for a long time, we are meant to be together, we always have. I can't force you to say yes, only show you that the life you currently lead will continue whether you say yes or no. I think you know what I would like for you to say, but in the end the answer must come from your heart."

Sliding out of my lap she stepped over to the table and taking one of the glasses, filled it from the bottle and after placing the bottle back in the bucket and setting the glass back down on the table, she sat back in her chair.

"The only thing you have to do is decide whether you will drink or not. If you drink from the glass, that will be your acceptance to my offer and you will fall asleep tonight and start your new life in the morning. If you choose no then we will enjoy a very nice dinner followed by dancing and a nice stroll on the beach. In the morning you will remember nothing of tonight and will have a fabulous vacation and will continue with your life as you currently know it. "

She gently slid the glass across the table to me as I looked at it intently. I felt a burning sensation in my chest and realized that I had been holding my breath. I slowly reached out and picked up the glass, looking at the contents closely. It looked and smelled like an expensive white wine. I sat the glass back down as gently as I could with my trembling hands and looked at her with a questioning glance.

With a look that could have melted the coldest of hearts, she looked at me with pleading eyes. "I am sorry Roy I can't tell you what to do, the rest is up to you."

I woke up the following morning...Something had changed...I couldn't remember coming back to the room and going to bed.
