Great shot! I almost laughed my head off when I saw this, though, 'cos I did a very similar shot a few days ago with a Sherlock Holmes book.
The locket and the colours are lovely!

No, but I know polish, so there isn't really be any language barrier between us, in case we would start talking with each other in our native languages .
Every time we (meaning my family) met Chechs or Slovaks at vacations we didn't have much troubles with understing one another . Some english sometimes might be required, but we're all Slavs after all .
Plus we sometimes do visit Czech, since we live nearby Cieszyn, and we just looove Czech food - smažený sýr being our most beloved meal .
AND there are always LOTS of laugh when we learn about differences between our languages . Because truly, Český jazyk, pěkný jazyk, and nobody can appreciate it's pěknýness as much as a Pole does .

Skutečně by jsi mi rozuměl kdybych začala mluvit česky? No dobře
Sice je pravda, že jsme Slované, ale já bych asi Polštině moc nerozuměla někdy mám problémy i se Slovenštinou a ta je přece jenom Češtine mnohem víc podobná než Polština.

Tedy ale ze všech českých jídel si oblíbíte zrovna smažený sýr? Máme tu i lepší

Soo...Did you get it? Or should i translate it to English?

No myslím, že ja by som Ti aj rozumela. Či nemám miasť ďalším takmer identickým jazykom pre domácich a úplne odlišným pre cudzinca? Prepáč, nemohla som si odpustiť a fotka je úžasná. obzvlášť chválim, že si tam netresla len tak knihu, ale naopak dielo, ktoré sa tam hodí obdobím, aj atmosférou. Like

Wait... it's something along thoe lines, isn't it :

So, we would effectively understand each other in case I'd like to speak Czech? OK
It's true that we are Slavs, but I would not understand Polish Sometimes I have problems with Slovak and this is after all more alike Czech than Polish.

So from all Czech meals you love smažený sýr the most?
We have better ones

I believe that's more or less what you have said . No google translator, I assure you .

And it was much more fun than reading yet another comment english, trust me . The unique slavic sound of Czech language is just so beautiful, plus sporadically hillarious when heard by polish ear .

Like jeptiška or mandelinka bramborova .
For you they might be just a regular words.
But when I, who thinks and analyse everything in my polish-language-orientated brain, hear them... they sound sooo freaking hillarious .

Jeptiška, when you know that jebać is a vulgar polish word, an equivalent to english f-word, becomes a very bizarre word to associate with nun .

And mandelinka bramborova... that sounds bizarre just by itself .

To wystarcza by się dogadać, oczywiście z malutką pomocą angielskiego .

Może i macie lepsze potrawy, ale akurat ta jedna najbardziej mi smakuje . A, i jeszcze też lubię knedlík* .

Ha, wasn't suppoused to be too difficult . From your text I understood about half of the words, the rest was just guessed by the context . Let me know how well did you do .

*BTW, is it the plural form? 'Cause in Polish knedlik is singular and knedliki is plural, but I wasn't sure .

Woow very good

About the 'jeptiška' and 'jebac' thing - I don't see much similarity in these two words but we have a word 'jebat' which means the same thing as your polish word...i think.

And now what you've wrote
'I'll write you in Polish so you won't be ...sad or something?
As you can see I can understand you - your nice Czech language - without bigger troubles'. .... 'admit that in most cases i can guess out of the context. Context makes understanding easier.'
'My father' .....i really don't know...'he was attending a lyceum? when the communism was here'? i'm not sure...'But he doesn't know the language perfectly, not even fluently,' ....., 'about 100 words'...ooh this is harder then it looks
'You can have better meals but I like this one most. And i also like dumplings'

Plural from 'knedlík' is 'knedlíky' And have you ever eaten sirloin? (Svíčková) It's a typical czech food.

Not nessecerily, but when you learn your whole life how vulgar words JEBać (v), JEBany (adj) and poJEB (n) are (and other variations: zJEBać, wyJEBać, rozJEBać, zJEBany, poJEBany, zJEB, and even the JEB alone, as an onomatopoeia)... and then you hear that a nun is a JEBtiszka...

Maybe you need a Polish zjebany brain to understand something this childish and unmature .
And forgive me, if you don't like swears, I don't like them neither, but I just find ALL the differences between languages amusing, with swearwords incounted .

Pretty good !

Except:
"so you won't be ...sad or something?" I'll wrote there: "I'll do my best to not make this too difficult"
"...." there was "though"
And the part that turned out to be the most dificult for you, but blame meh! It was too colloquial, now I see :
"My dad can can even make himself understood with Russian guys, although it's most likely because he was learning this language in high school" - polish word: liceum; and then yes, indeed - "when the communism was here" or more gramatically correct "in the times of communism".
"...fluently, eh says that he knows about 100 words, if he would focus hard", again, too colloquial !
Sorry .

Hmm... must drag my dad to Czech again and check this dish out . Truth beeen told, we haven't been to Czech since a looong time .
Eh. Maybe some weekend I'll talk it into him . Czechia is not far from where we live .

Well, sorry for such a difficult polish text, WAY too colloquial . Feel free with torturing me with Czech texts of higher difficulty level . I won't mind .

...that didn't sound good .
