aprox. 9" x 12" Bristol board (my scanner cropped it)
started this like a month ago I was hoping to have it done before today. Today is my mother's birthday. When I started sketching it she asked me, excitedly, "why are you drawing horses" (she, like I, loves them). Of course then she realized I was putting fins on them and them proceeded to call me weird. lol Well the joke is on her cause this is her Birthday present XDDDD <3
nah I think she liked it in the end... I hope.
you can probably tell that I ran out of a brown marker halfway through coloring the mother... that's why she looks messed up :C ohwell.

Aww this is such a cute and peaceful scene. I love the background so much, the details are gorgeous with all that plant life and then the little creatures hidden here and there. I especially love the eel I think just as much as the equines. The sea horses are beautiful too, I love that it is a mare and foal and how playful they are. The mare's tongue was a cute touch. I really like their fins and the little gill areas. Your equine anatomy is looking excellent too.

Horses can be tough...they are one of the things I am more comfortable drawing but sadly I am only comfortable drawing them in my own wonky, inaccurate way. I think yours look way more realistic anatomy-wise then mine and quite stunning.

Yes, everything I said was in english. Though, I think the term "Kappa" is Norwegian or German or some Icelandic dialect. And the way you drew the horses reminds me a lot of what Kappas look like, sans the hole in their skulls for water.
