Chapter 1

It was a dark, gloomy day in Tech City, grey clouds filled the sky and blocked out most of the sunlight. The streets were almost deserted because it was a Sunday and no one wanted to go out in the rain that was coming down over the whole city. There was however one person still in the streets, a lone dark brown hedgehog was walking home after looking around the stores for anything worth stealing. He looked down at a small, clear plastic box in his hand with a video game box inside it, ‘Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3’ the box read.
“Oh yeah this is gonna be good.” The hedgehog said to himself. Just then his ear twitched, he turned and saw a small bird child tugging on an older female bird’s coat not far away on the other side of the street, “Mommy, mommy! It’s the man from TV! Look!”
The woman looked over and gasped when she saw the hedgehog, “Oh my God! It’s Val the Hedgehog!” she shouted
Val felt his heart jump as the woman took out a cell phone and dialled a number, ‘Dammit!’ he thought, ‘Guess the streets aren’t as deserted as I’d hoped. I bet I know who she’s calling too, this place’ll be flooded with cops soon. I gotta move fast’ suddenly Val ran at full speed down the street.
In less then a minute, Val was almost at the other side of the city and was close to the hideout he, Jasmine the Cat and Devina the Wolf lived at.
As Val rounded a street corner, his foot landed on a wet piece of paper and made him slip and fall face first down onto the cold, wet hard road. Val groaned as he stood up and tried to brush himself off, he felt his nose, it was bleeding but not broken. Val looked around and saw the piece of paper he’d stood on, no wonder he’d slipped, it was laminated. He bent down and picked it up, his eyes widened as he read it; ‘Coming Soon! The Zero G Grand Prix! A tournament for all those out there who like Extreme Gear and want to test your skills and find out who is the best. The grand prize will be the seven Chaos Emeralds!’
“What the Hell?…that’s impossible! The prize can’t be the Chaos Emeralds…I have one and so does Shadow.”
Val tucked the poster into his pocket and picked up the game box that had dropped from his hand when he fell. Fortunately the plastic box has saved the game box from damage. He walked down the street until he saw the hideout. His eye then caught something; A black and red hedgehog was standing outside the building talking to a white bat, a purple chameleon, a purple cat, a kid bee, a crocodile, white wolf and a black cat.
‘Huh? The Chaotix? What’re they doing here?’ Val thought as he walked faster and eventually made it to the group, “What’s going on?” he asked, the white wolf stepped forward, “While you were gone, Jas and I went to the Chaotix for a little while, when we got back the front door had been broken and the place was trashed.”
“What!? Someone broke in?” Val shouted
“Yes…they stole your Chaos Emerald, Val.” replied the black cat.
“And we didn’t find any evidence to give us an idea who took it.” added the black hedgehog
“Don’t worry…I have an idea.” said Val as he took out the poster and showed them, “Shadow, we need to find out who’s running this event.”
The ebony hedgehog nodded, “We can find out back at the Chaotix. It’ll be no problem for you huh Charmy?” The bee did a backflip in mid air, “Yeah, piece of cake!”
