The ancients yeah... the same ancients mentioned once in Crash Bash and then never, ever again mentioned ever in that game or any other.

True, they just showed ancient statues and temples after that.

I will admit Crash of the titans wasn't great, but it had very interesting statues of masks (Mostly Aku Aku and Uka Uka)
and temples.

I'm very curious if we will see those masks in the new Crash bandicoot games. One of them looked quite evil. The rest
looked really friendly.

I think the reason why they don't mention the ancients very much is because they don't have anything in store for
them yet. They might be planning something big or something.

Although I mentioned in my previous comment there is great potential for great background stories and lore in the franchise, for the past 20 years this aspect of the franchise hasn't been important. And I understand why. It's a risky gamble to shift the narrative of the franchise towards a tone that would be appropriate for lore expansion for that would require an increased focus on storytelling, plotlines, and continuity. It would shift the dynamic of the franchise from a silly platformer to a platformer with a "series" (and a put series in quotes for I mean serious not as in dark but serious as in important) story to be taken "seriously" (like it's crucial to the game instead of just their because reasons). There'd have to be an enhanced emphasis on cutscenes and dialogue in subsequent games which may not blend well with the Crash series as it stands now (it's reputation for easily being "digestible" to anyone playing of any age).

So unfortunately, my thirst to have the lore of Crash Bandicoot expanded will not happen within the games itselves. What I would want to happen is for the franchise to be COMPLETELY rebooted from the ground up so that all previous continuity is reckoned out. Don't get rid of it, use it as a source of inspiration and retell the story of Crash Bandicoot in a way that is able to tell deeper, more complex stories, which incorporate more complex themes (for example, Crash's isolation being the only creature of his kind besides Tawna and eventually Coco [I don't like Crunch] and how that affects him, the impact Cortex has on the native Tribesman, the sentience and "rights" of artificial sentient creatures, the ethics of anthropomorphism (is Crash equivalent to a human), the limitations of Crash's mind: this being a fate dealt to him by the universe; slight mental retardation and slurred diction might be a consequence of his mutation and he has to overcome this hurdle along with saving innocent lives as well as being pitied by others, the consequences of time travel and the repercussions of time travel, the actual possibilities of the Power Crystals and what can be done with them, the blurred line between good and evil and where exactly Crash and Cortex fall on the scale with Aku-Aku and Uka-Uka representing the extremes, etcetera etcetera I can go on for a while)

The point is, I have a lot of reasons I love this franchise. It's complicated and I thought I was unique in this fascination (extreme). It's nice to know that maybe I'm not.

To be honest, I like how Crash came out or how it's 'playing' if you know
what I mean? It's new! It's not that typical 'Oh look things aren't
perfect now but it'll get better!' right off in the beginning.
In a way it kind of is but it's not?? Anyway, there is an island
called N. Sanity island....WHY is that? It might as well be a bit
serious but there's really no need for the game to be rated A or M
it can still be either rated E or T.

I think the makers of the game were going to add more story about
the ancients and all

But because overly protective PARENTS or anyone, complain so
much about it being too 'violent' or too 'inappropriate' for their kids
I think they're pretty much limiting their selves.

Pretty much the reason why we don't see Tawna anymore either or
so I've heard.

Crunch isn't so bad? But I will admit they pretty much made him a little
annoying through out the games.

Ugh... I think your refering to the first Crash game, then if you are, I think I see what your getting at. But before I do, I feel I have to point this out.
The ancients are only referred to once in Crash Bash, which was made by Eurocom Entertainment Software. They only Crash game they made was Bash (besides the port of The Wrath of Cortex to the Gamecube, my source being their wikipedia page). In all honesty, the ancients were never, ever intended to be a part of the canon (whoever or whatever they hell they are), especially as part of Naughty Dog's initial vision which all the developers would extend and adapt from. Their existence lived and died in that one game. However your noble goal of reintroducing them into the franchise is a well endeavored idea. Why it revolves around a raven I'm still curious to find out, but by all means you're doing a great job.

Okay, back to my first sentence. For me, the first Crash game was subtly the best game as far as telling a story. Besides the opening FMV which is optional to see, your only source of plot information is through the environment. There was no dialogue, distinguished cutscenes, you were experiencing Crash's journey exactly as he was, through his perspective. The linear path of progression in both the levels and in the overworld gave a sense of progression towards a destination, as an ominous castle continuously appears in the background in both the first and subsequent levels. There's the theme of the first, second, and third islands, those being natural, abandoned, and technological. You discover Crash's objective by gameplay, the enemies change from natural and environmental to machines and agents of Cortex. It was really well done.

Though it was for a good reason not repeated. The second game was very much more theatrical and deservedly is a better game than Crash 1.

As far as the potential for Crash Bandicoot as a franchise to tackle more complex and "mature" themes (even though I would LOVE to see it be done) I understandably agree shouldn't happen (and not because of parents opinions or "destroying children's innocence." Crash Bandicoot by design is fundamentally made to be marketed to a specific audience of consumers. The current goofy, animaniac style theme of the game is the safest option for selling the Crash game, and a total flip on this model and instead tell a real story involving "adult" narratives would be too big of a creative risk and has a great potential to disconnect with Crash's established audience despite the quality of the resulting game and not sell well. I HATE WITH A ******* PASSION IDIOTIC CRASH (though I absolutely don't mind him not talking), but it is what it is. It's a staple of the series I have to force myself to tolerate.

And by the way, do you want me to stop replying with such large comments? I could note you instead. Just let me know.

Nah I don't mind if ya leave large comments.

To be honest I think it was right for them to mention the ancients, I mean look at CB The Wrath of Cortex.
In one of the scenes where the twins met it looked like it was in another dimension or the 'After-Life'.
Uka Uka's 'sitting' in a chair and in the background it looks like space, but when you look at Aku Aku, behind him
is just a cliff by the looks of it, it was just a floating piece of an island perhaps. What it once was. That really
raises the questions of where they are and what is going on in that world? What happened?
That's about time to mention the ancients somewhere in one or more of the games don't ya think?
That would really make the story a lot more interesting.
(And thank ya! Im glad you think it was a good idea of me to bring the ancients back.)

I still don't understand why people believed Crash became more idiotic in the COTT and CMOM. That's
just ridiculous. The only thing that was a little different about him (Besides his looks) was that he was trying
to talk more. He wanted to be able to speak like everyone else in the games.
