Caroline felt like a small child on Christmas. A few weeks ago Meadow Lark had been contacted by Animal Range Ranch in Wales. ARR had noticed on a riding blog that MLS recently bred a foal sired by Blackbird Fantasy, they mentioned they also had one of his foals. Carol immediately knew they were talking of Alia-Bird who had recently been sold by Beaumont. She had almost put in a bid for the mare herself but simply hadn't had the funds at that time.

After talking for a while Melissa of ARR had mentioned that they were attending a show in Arizona in the next few weeks and would be passing through New Mexico. Alia-Bird would be traveling as part of the horses going to the show and both parties were eager to have her meet her little brother. Today was the day.

The large trailer pulled up to the circular drive in front of the stables and rolled gently to a stop. Wesley and Daisun moved forward to open the trailer while Carol approached the driver side door, a young women stepped out.
"Hello, you must be Melissa!" Carol said with a smile.
"Yes I am, it's a pleasure to meet you" She replied as they shook hands.
"Let's get this pretty lady out into the field," Wesley hollered from behind the truck. The group made their way to the pasture where the foals were. As they approached little Spook pranced up closer to the fence, ears perked up. Wesley opened the gate and led Ali through, slipping her halter off. The mare slowly walked out into the grass, looking about at her scenery before spotting the small foal standing before her. The two stood for a moment, each getting a feel for the other before Spook shook with excitement at meeting a new horse and trotted up to his half-sister.

The group watching smiled as they came nose to nose and Carol snapped a picture.
"We should send this to Kalib at Beaumont, let him see two of his boy's offspring together," She commented softly.
"Agreed," replied Melissa.

This is dedicated to =Baringa-of-the-Wind who's amazing stallion Blackbird Fantasy sired these two.
~tomboianimalmel and I decided to do a little art trade, each drawing these two as they meet for the first time. I hope I did Ali justice (though I think her mane might be too short...).
Also, I hope it's alright that I used Melissa. I wasn't sure who would be attending the show and remembered that she was the one in your bid for Ali originally. Let me know if you need me to change that!
