The Kuiper-Class Mining Cruiser was by far, the BIGGEST mining ship constructed under Orion hands. The Kuiper-Class Mining Cruiser is capable of hauling in large asteroids and pieces of debris with it's large Super Heavy Tractor beam projectors. Made and developed by Orion Engineering Systems (OES for short) it was designed for long-range asteroid mining/debris collecting missions. They may be massive but that is due to the fact there are onboard refineries and mining stations onboard. The Kuiper-Class Cruisers are often used by the Stellar Mining Corporation both within and outside Orion Spur Alliance territory, the Mining Guild also uses such cruisers to great extent due to the large mining facilities and refineries already onboard. The Kuiper-Class Cruiser cannot hold any star fighters onboard due to the hangers mainly meant to carry cargo, mining vessels and shuttles. So They are often escorted by 5 frigates, 2 corvettes and 10 smaller faster cruisers of various origins (NOT including those used within the military of the Orion Spur Alliance). The use of Kuiper-Class Cruisers from various companies has caused them all to work together in a way, such as multiple mining a very ore rich area. Here's how it works, one Kuiper-Class Cruiser of one company must find a large, ore rich asteroid belt/debris field first. If there is too much for the one ship to mine it all, so they instead of just calling more of the same ship from the same company, they call other companies to come and harvest the asteroid field. Such large collaborations happen very commonly and all companies that participated in the harvesting benefit from such harvests. These harvests have earned their own classification: Harvest Events. These events help boost the economies of several galactic powers, especially those suffering from economical collapse.

the Kuiper-Class Cruiser is incredibly slow and ungainly, other than the light turbolaser batteries and turrets already fitted in their only defence is the small escort fleets from pirates.
