Light filters down on the soul through dusty cobwebs as the floor dissolves. Theres no warmth in the light, only taunting. Its there, but gives nothing-- a shell of itself, just set to remind that there could be better times just beyond the ceiling tiles. Impossible to get to, as the ceiling is a cage of iron, but there nonetheless.

However,

However, with gentle hands and understanding smiles, piece by piece, the iron can be carved away. Gentle invites, even when refused, rust away the cage, until all one has to do is take the courage in themself to step back out into the world.

Time, of course. Time and healing. The cage keeps away spitting tongues and lashing claws that gave the lacerations in the first place. But eventually, it has to fall away.
