It seems that the "thing to do" whenever there's a film about anthropomorphic animals is to try one's hand at imaging them as humans.

In this case, my sister and I were Skyping and ended up discussing how we imagine the Sing characters. Particularly the matter of how to translate Meena's ears into hair...

Anyway, heeeeeere's Johnny! *gestures dramatically* It was really, truly fun making him because I pretty much knew what I wanted Johnny to look like from the start! My sister's perspective on him being shorter did slightly influence me, so there is that, but overall I always knew that he would be a "grease monkey," a la the film "Grease." I love how his widows peak and side burns turned out, and how it is reminiscent of the fur on his face from the film. And with his broad, rounded shoulders he seems able and willing to give perfectly wonderful hugs. <3
