Description Isn't he totally gorgeous? This really sweet old man had taken me to where it was just resting and it was so prettiful that I had to grab a shot. Am not actually sure what type it is or anything like that which is a shame. Fuzzy horns and everything

Thanks to can say that it is a Puss Moth.

Was an old man out walking who came by and said he'd seen it and took me to take a look. Is amazing what the caterpillar looked like.

This moth is so adorable!

I love huge moths and butterflies. The same goes for caterpillars as well. Out here we occasionally get these moths that are a bit bigger than hummingbirds that come out during the early morning at the crack of dawn. I remember one time I seen what looked like a bunch of hummingbirds buzzing around our bird of paradise tree... except when I took a double take, they were moths! So cute!

There was another time (actually twice) we had this humongous dragonfly fly in our home. It was about as long as my hand. Huge... I never knew they could get that large. At least where I live.

This moth is just so cool looking with its leopard spots-ish pattern. The caterpillar form is just all out crazy, but awesome.

We actually have a Butterfly center not so far away from here and that is very awesome. Get to just walk around and they are all over the place.

Those sound absolutely lovely, I wish I could have seen those.

I took a video clip of one of those huge dragonflies that came into the house (and drove our cat, Snowball, crazy). When I seen one of my cats, Luna, go nuts at some leaves, I think it might have been one of those beetles or some small mouse she was chasing when it was a Dragonfly and it flew in my direction. Being afraid of bugs (especially roaches) in general until I actually know what I'm seeing, I freaked and the door was still open so that's how it came in. We got it out and it wasn't hurt, but it was largest freaking Dragonfly I've seen.

With how dragonflies move I can imagine how much the cats might like them.

My hubby is afraid of roaches actually. Have always found it weird how he's otherwise fearless but roaches just are this huge NO. Luckily we don't really get them here actually. Cats are usually pretty good deterrents though.

How big was it?

Oh, it drives my cats crazy. They go into a hunting mode frenzy complete with them making those chatter noises cats make when they get excited over birds.

Well it was almost the size of my palm. [link] [link] [link]

I became scared of roaches ever since I was a kid after a couple of roaches somehow crawled in my T-shirt. TWO! I felt something itchy on my arm and scratched it until I realized there were two bumps and the itch turned into a pinch. :shivers:

oh that is pretty! I am not overly fond of moths, I am certainly not scared of them, but I would freak only slightly should I find him sitting on me and I didn't know it. However, if I knew he was there I could go over to him and pick him up if I dared. My sister... would run. he does have some pretty wings there though!

I know Dave used to not like them but have always fond them to be really pretty. The caterpillar looks amazing though like totally otherworldly. He was pretty happy on that post though

He is a cutie, I wish had seen him fly but he was quite happy to just chill there and always try to just let things be.

That is so awesome, I don't think have ever seen a caterpillar like that in person in my life. Which is a shame because it is crazy wonderful looking. I wonder if maybe the moth was lost though considering where I found it.

You can find those caterpillars on willows and poplars, in humid areas, often near streams or ponds.
