In my style mollies and toms dont have differences other than what's between their legs. What exactly makes her look like a tom, though?

Cats don't have eyelashes like us humans do, and I try to keep my style as realistic as I can so my style doesn't have them vwv

That might be generally true, but unfortunately there are breaks to that rule! AND unfortunately there's only one cat in this picture, the other one is a shadow, like, quite obviouslyΒ

Also what is with this series seriously "Magical Power" Cats? and some mystical heaven just for cats? also that the twoleg nonsense makes no sense since cats think humans are bigger cats (My opinions but i am a fantasy fanatic so i make no sense either)

Cats are largely gender androgynous beings without being anthropomorphised. Your interpretation is valid, but does not take supremacy over the artist's. Shakshun is not incorrect, a cat portrayed in a realistic fashion is not always obviously one gender or another.

Even on the original covers of the American and British publications of warriors, the genders are entirely neutral. Your gender interpretation is human-centric, artistically insensitive, and frivolous.

Thanks but i don't think i'm a idiot i have 2cats both same age there gender wasn't tellable when they were kits but when they grew up (there like twins) the female was smaller as the male was taller so what i said isn't COMPLETELY wrong

Umiaq In reply to AngelicBlades [2014-04-03 13:10:01 +0000 UTC]
The use of the word 'idiot' is your choice, not mine. You may have had two cats, and the difference may have been visible in them, but it is not visible in every cat. While you are not completely wrong, your justification is identical to a claim like, 'All individuals of asian descent are short. I had a chinese friend, and she was shorter than me.' This is based on a stereotype you are excusing or proving using self-experience. It may be a valid statement in some cases, but it will not be in all. The points made previously still stand.

π: 0 β©: 1
Umiaq In reply to AngelicBlades [2014-04-03 13:28:59 +0000 UTC]
I have at not at any point said that cats are like humans. My main argument is that they are nothing like humans, and therefore to make gendered comparisons which apply primarily to our species is entirely incorrect and ineffective; the only mention I have made of human traits is the comparison of knowing a single individual of a single identity and drawing overarching statements about the entire race from that, which stands as a comparison for what you are doing by saying that all cats will be visibly different because you have seen an example, or limited examples, of that.
Please at least attempt to understand what I am typing, because I am putting forth quite an effort to keep it at a third grade reading level and do not want to be responsible for your rampant lack of comprehension.Β

The points made so far for the case that Spottedleaf is too masculine have been the presence of eyelashes, and her comparative size-- which cannot be established because there is nothing in the image to be used as a measure of scale. Both are, to an extent, attempting to justify gender appearance based on human interpretation of gender physiology (which is in and of itself untrue more often than not). You do have a third grade reading level, as you have proven (more than once) that you cannot interpret any phrases with room for literal or alternative interpretation in a correct manner using context; it matters mostly because it's forcing me to repeat extremely simple points.Β

I didn't say that she needed eyelashes or anything that was completely someone else and i didn't say she was too masculine either read before you accuse and when were you repeating? sorry i didn't bother to read all of your text since i felt like there was no point to.

It's just a fan art to a book serie that's far from realistic cat behavior, so you can't really refer to that. And quite honestly, it's JUST a freaking PICTURE of a CAT WITH A FIERY BACKGROUND. I don't see what's the big hush on if the cat put on eyeliner or not?
And you can't refer to cat size because there is nothing to pinpoint the cat's size on, there are no other cats, or any objects. And quite honestly, female cats are most usually same size, or in domestic, they're often even bigger than toms due being better hunters cause of their natural hunting abilities (cause you know, female cats hunt for their kits, makes sense, no?)
There is nothing connected to humans in this picture so I don't see your point at all. And if you're talking about the books, sorry I'm not the author, you should write to Erin Hunters about it

Not talking about the picture i'm talking about how you can "tell" also that i'm sorry okay? i just like talking to people about my opinions because i'm used to no one listening to me and ignoring me all the time and having 1hour long conversations while leaving me out okay? its that simple.

That's a thing you need to discuss with your friends, not a random person on the internet. And telling me that "females ARE bigger than males" isn't an opinion, it's a forced fact that's unfortunately mostly invalid.

Well i don't think a cat looks like a standing creature that doesn't have 4legs and since when did i say that it "Had connection"? i didn't referance anything human either i was talking about plainout cats.

Thanks but its clearly meant like (Cats do NOT look like HUMANS and that HUMANS don't have 4legs they have 2arms and 2legs while cats have 4legs no arms so what i'm saying is that there not humanoid there CATS DIFFERENT.)

Shakshun In reply to AngelicBlades [2014-04-03 13:33:55 +0000 UTC]
I've never stated anywhere that cats are similar to humans, you're the one doing so by stereotyping that "female cats are smaller than male ones" because you can't tell a cats gender like you can tell a humans. You're the only person here who says that they have any similarities, or actually brought up the whole thing.
π: 0 β©: 1
AngelicBlades In reply to Shakshun [2014-04-03 13:36:34 +0000 UTC]
So? just because of that i said "OH THERE EXACTLY LIKE HUMANS!" and no i didn't say they had similarities it was "GENDER DIFFERENCE" not "SIMILARITIES" but yeah i'm probably the most stupid person ever i share my opinion with a internet person where all the people are completely rude but i have no friends in the 1st place so i have no one to share with or talk with.
π: 0 β©: 1
Shakshun In reply to AngelicBlades [2014-04-03 13:39:18 +0000 UTC]
I honestly can't help you with the problem of "not having friends", sorry, so you can stop bringing that up because it has no connection to this at all.Β
And still, it's not an opinion to come to my art, and tell me that "FEMALE CATS ARE SMALLER" and opinion would be "I think female cats are smaller than males". I haven't been rude with you, in the slightest, anyway.Β
Point being, it's very hard to gender a cat, if you do not look between their legs. And that has nothing to do with this picture, at all, because you cannot see the cats lower body, and there's nothing to pinpoint her gender on, other than me stating that yes she is indeed a female book character.Β

And i know you can't i was clearly "Insulting" myself for bothering to speak with someone of the internet and i know i suck its because i have no one to talk to at all so i don't know at all how to speak/listen/take/grammar/sentence sculpture clearly thats why i pointed it out.

Shakshun In reply to AngelicBlades [2014-04-03 13:44:28 +0000 UTC]
English is your native language, so I'd expect that you can write/speak it normally. Then there's me, my English is not native, and you can still make out on what I'm saying. So you can't really escape speaking anyway, it happens everywhere, that's not a valuable excuse.
But since your point was knocked over, I see no point in answering to this anymore, after this.Β
