I feel like an art block is going to hit any time now. ._.;;;Suddenly Rena from Star Ocean 2.
I didn't even like this character (Can you be any more typical RPG heroine? >A> ), but I spent many hours on the game and have fond memories of it. Dull girl gets such a pretty theme song, though. D':
Still trying to figure out of this sort of coloring works or not. it's fun though, so I'll keep playing around with it D:

Bloom lighting. That's what this coloring makes me think of. I couldn't remember what seemed familiar about it, but I think that's it. It makes it look prettier, softer, warmer, and cuter. Up to you whether you like the style or not, but if people ask for cute stuff, you might consider using this style for that.

Yeah! ; ; I was never interested in the ones that came after because they started to look generic to me. I mean, there were definitely a couple of generic tropes in SO2, but it had so much charm and it was just plain fun. D: Even the awful battle voice-acting has a special place in my heart. X3
I'd love to check out the original on the SNES, but it seems like good working ROM translations are hard to come by. D:

Nah, Star Ocean 2 was unique. It's the same deal with the Grandia series -- it turned into something else trying to pull the Final Fantasy formula, but it didn't quite work.
I've played some SO1 a couple of years ago but it didn't hook me much. It's hard to emulate because it had a special chip in the game cartridge to accelerate graphics or something.

Grandia!!! o.o Another one I had that I never beat. I took a peak at it again over the summer, and WOW, the designs are gorgeous! I was really pleasantly surprised, even though I'd played it before. I really need to get a cheap PS2 someplace. There are still those and oodles of other games that I'm much more eager to play than most new ones. (was mooching off of my brother's at the time)
