Some time ago recently, a rare silverback gorilla was shot dead after a boy fell into the cage at the zoo. They knew tranquilizers were worthless because it would make the gorilla mad and cause it to hurt the kid before it fell asleep, so they shot it.
The thing is, the gorilla actually didn't hurt. At most, it dragged the kid closer too the land, but then it stood the child up and seemed genuinely affectionate to the child. So killing it would naturally mean that there'd be controversy (because what isn't controversial subject on the Internet?). This is where the #dicksoutforharrambe came from.
