because her dress goes down to her knees you only have the top half of it.

Actually the trenchcoat stops before her knees (see the "Where on Earth" cartoon).

that is why I made the point about the skirt sir, a lady shouldn't show her knees be she friend, fiend or in Carmen's case absoulutley nuts but smart

TherealRNO In reply to NightwingRobin [2010-01-18 04:33:18 +0000 UTC]

But the thing is...Carmen didn't ever wear a skirt. Her trenchcoat covered pretty much everything and her heeled shoes reached up pretty far.

Well then her dress was to short or so it appears in this picture and that is why the dress should be shown covering her knees and then her legs I'm just saying that in this picture she doesn't look very proper be she friend or foe as I remember in the games the dress always covered her body from her neck to just below the knees before and after she put her trenchcoat on I don't think it is proper for a lady to show her knees. I realize that this picture is to imply that her coat is blowing in the wind. Now no more flaming me for my thoughts Mr.No

TherealRNO In reply to NightwingRobin [2010-01-18 20:01:12 +0000 UTC]

I am not flamming you. I am saying that different depictions of the V.I.L.E crime queen showcase her differently. In the games, her outfit may have gone past the knees, but in the cartoon series, her knees could clearly be seen (especially in the episode where gumshoe Ivy finally captured Carmen--or so she thought--when she grabbed her by the shin, allowing Ivy's brother Zack to drape a net over Carmen for the capture).

ok but that was the last episode but as far as i'm concerned carmen's yellow dress (games and pbs series)goes past the knees maybe the orange one doesn't but any further coments about the dress will not be said qouting the double-dealing double-agent as she occassionally helps ACME "until next crime player"

That we're not sure of. As you said the show was cancelled before she could truly find out, but then again, as she herself said, "Some things we aren't really meant to know".

NightwingRobin In reply to TherealRNO [2010-01-19 00:39:37 +0000 UTC]

true but I think that as she also said during the credit roll "if I dropped the lockette because I'm running from the fire then Avalon could still be my father." Hmm they sould have made a fith season trying to figure this out as well as trying to get Carmen behind bars at the same time, but Carmen is smart although she is absoulutley nuts. Is she good or bad. I did my history work, played the games and they all use the legend from the earth series that was carried over to the newest time game based on the pbs show that she was an ACME turncoat because outwitting acme was a better challenge then her outwitting crooks. See my poit about her being absoulutley bonkers. I outwitted her in the games alot of times but that is the real challenge about this mysterious and twisted lady in red. Once again player, until next crime. Superslueth NightwingRobin signing off of carmen before i become a spacecase.

TherealRNO In reply to NightwingRobin [2010-01-19 00:54:27 +0000 UTC]

She's not bonkers. As Avalon himself said, "Had my daughter lived, she would've been smart and brave, and not be a theif and coward who's runs from the law". And whilst it is true that Carmen is a theif, it is also true that she is definately smart, brave, and as was established, an ex-ACME agent purely out of the challenge outwitting ACME poses. She's not as bad as some claim her to be, because unlike most villains (including most baddies in the real world), she doesn't steal for selfish or greedy reasons, nor does she try to hurt or kill those who come after her. Heck, in some episodes of the cartoon, she saved Zack & Ivy from potentially dying, because without the gumshoes, she wouldn't have anyone to pursue her and thus, her fun would be at an end.

ok had we continued this last night i would have went nuts, but the way the game is played and the fact that i unlike most detectives actully caught her is the bonkers part of it. Carmen did survive that fire when she was 2 but we've got a mystery on our hands still. So how should we go about solving it and trying to put her behind bars at the same time?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TherealRNO In reply to NightwingRobin [2010-01-19 21:12:53 +0000 UTC]

Well, I'd say let her solve it--stopping her heists whilst doing so--and then put her away if you think doing so is needed.

NightwingRobin In reply to TherealRNO [2010-01-20 02:20:06 +0000 UTC]

ok then i think i'll have her do that in a special fan-fic that if it were turned in to an episode it would be a two-parter where trying to figure out if Avalon is indeed or not her father but have her heist two different things over the course of the story however if she finds out that Avalon is her father she will have a sentence to jail for at least a year because Avalon would want her to do the right thing and by that time she probably would too and maybe she could go back to ACME after she's paid her debt to society. If not She will get away like she always does.... until next crime. This will be set up like an episode so the detectives used will be the Quartet of Zack,Ivy,Tatyana, and Josh. I have decided that the four will leave the chief in the dark and not tell him anything until if it happens they catch Carmen when she finds out that infact Avalon is her father and her mother died in that fire. If not Zack and the others will find a way to catch her and there will not be a chat with the chief. Then a third episode where they find away to get the lady in red they will catch her finally. Any Items that are difficult to steal that are on my list might be stolen. That would be the Mr. Dripper (Dr.Pepper formula parody) formula because she tries to steal Coca-Cola in the usa game. An Incan artifact, and if needed another one borrowed from the game the Indpls Motor Speedway's checkered flag. I'll start on this friday and have it up on Saturday complete with a picture of Carmen on the Front Cover of a DVD to make it look lagit.

Honestly, I don't see Carmen working well with ACME. Sure, she's been nice to the detectives and has even shown remorse at times, but being an elusive criminal is part of who she is and if you take that away, she just becomes another number in the vast sea of ACME agents.

but this is my story picking up after the events of Can you ever go home again and I feel like it is time for her to turn over a new leaf and then when she gets out of jail the events of my story will focus on the mystery of Carmen Isabella Sandiego/Avalon if Avalon is her father and we already know that her supposed mother Magarite Sandiego(Maiden Name perhaps the one Carmen took?)Avalon. Have you forgot that Carmen also said that People have the will to change?

TherealRNO In reply to NightwingRobin [2010-01-22 01:45:14 +0000 UTC]

Yes, she did say that, but remember, she is THE Carmen Sandiego and she is known for being an elusive criminal, albeit a tolerant and somewhat forgiving one.

she is,she changed in my story that was just finnished today, and Avalon is her father it says so on the last clue she found in it... her birth certificate clearly reads On this day of March 24,1969(supposed year) Carmen Isabella Avalon was born to parents Malcom and Margarite Avalon. Sandiego is Magarite's maiden name that Carmen took after she escaped the fire it was Sandiego was written on the back of her mother's picture inside the lockette. I am the player as I have stated in earlier disscussions and I was allowed to go inside the game by pressing V(for virtualization)on my keyboard and help find the final clue that was revealed at the end to have been sent by Avalon, He knew all along in this story that Carmen was his daughter but let her figure it out for herself. Hows that for a summary of my story? Remember that the writer controls the pencil/pen and can do as he or she chooses. However the Alternate ending is that Carmen finds out Avalon isn't her father and she continues her spree like usual. My original ending is the way the series should have ended. Also included in my original ending Carmen turns back to the right side and pays for her crimes although she was let out 3 years early (for good behavior)because I gave her a 6 year sentence and She goes back to Acme getting 2 surprises meeting me (the player) and finding the final clue to this mystery. I wrapped it up with the the themesong playing during the excitement with a flashback to the day that Carmen first came to ACME during the credits. Case Closed, But my story is only one you can wright your own and thats my chapter and verse (episode reference). This is the part where she would say until next crime but today she said I'm ready to return to my old status as Acme's best agent.

"My original ending is the way the series should have ended."

Or not. Sure, she could find out that Avalon is her father and could be close to him, but the fact of the matter is that many fans know Carmen solely as an elusive criminal with a perchant for the color red and so, if you take away that which defines Carmen--for there was a reason why her past at ACME was never truly discussed (that reason being that Carmen was forever created to be the criminal she known for being)--she is no longer THE Carmen everyone knows but a character that resembles and has the name of Carmen.

Like i said, my story is one sequal you can write your own where she does continue the game formula if you wanted to. I will still do the episode coverwork but at the end she gets the outfit that I will draw up for her. I am mixing the stories of the Earth show and Treasures of Knowledge game where Carmen was encourged to turn back to good and does in my story. I let my Art teacher see this story(she is a Carmen fan) and she liked it. Basically In my story she finally listened to her former partner Jules although we never see her until a montage of Carmen's original acme days rather then just the first. She will still wear red but I'm giving her a different outfit and black-brown hair to merge the two together. Now then my story is written and finished as for that clue between the picture and certificate it was Avalon's family tree with Carmen being his daughter. I hate to bring up another show but on an episode of the Proud Family, Mr. Webb the history teacher says "if you don't know your past you won't have a future." That is why Carmen has made a change but who's to say she won't get bored with ACME again and reform V.I.L.E. As Carmen was encourged to make amends I encourage you to write your own finale if you think she should stay a sympathetic villianess rather than going back to ACME.
