This is a really beautiful illustration, and I'm not at all surprised that it received a Daily Deviation! Β What doesΒ surprise me is that it's only received 16 comments at the time of writing this! Β
My favorite thing about this painting is the composition. Β It's so pleasing to the eye -- a nice strong starting point with the moon shining behind the wolf's head, and then a sweeping flow to the right with the dancing spirits and tree branches. Β I love that the branches intertwine, it solidifies the feeling of being locked in to an intensely dense forest. Β
I do love the subdued color palette you chose. Β It might have been more eye-catching to add a bit of complimentary color, but that would probably have changed the overall feel of the piece. Β As it is now, it really gives me such a feeling of serenity and peace. Β I think you've translated the story behind the image into a really strong feeling for the viewer.
Anyway, congratulations on the Daily Deviation! Β I'm so glad I was browsing DDs, because otherwise I might not have found your gorgeous gallery! Β c: Β I hope to see more beautiful art from you in the future!
