~ Did you know that a wolf will cover it's snout in snow to hide it's breath while it hunts? ~A colored pencil drawing on black paper with some acrylic detail painting afterwords. This looks lot better in real life, my camera ate it
I'll update with a better picture as soon as I can. btw, those are berries or something, but the black paper didn't deal too well with red pencils OR acrylics D:[ btw, there are two (or one if you group them together) mistakes in this that are painfully obvious if you look hard enough, and I'll say this, I can't fix it, short of starting over, so pretend they don't exist. I caught the mistake too far in to do anything about it. Let's just say that I tilt my head funny when I work and things get drawn weird D: ]

It's a yellow-orange in colored pencil, then I mixed a yellow with a tan in acrylic to dull it down and went in with highlights with the smallest brush I had. Did the same for the black, so it would pop and not look so dusty C:

This is incredible...especially for a traditional piece. At first i seriously thought it was a photo or a photo-manip. Extremely well done and the hue just adds such a hint of mystery to it.

Is that why I see lots of wolves with snow covering their nose? I thought they were just eating the snow

I see the 1 or 2 mistakes. When I first glanced at the piece, I thought, "Hm, yes, another wonderful artwork," but then I caught the mistakes and thought, "No! Why did you do that?!" They stand out like a sore thumb! (Why doesn't anyone else see them?) I believe they are the symmetry of the head and eyes, am I right?
I'm almost positive that the judges who look at this piece will notice it eventually, but I'm sure it would be after they admire everything else in the piece. I'm sure they would all agree with me that, besides the distorted head, the piece still shows your incredible knowledge and skills.

Maybe I just failed at getting across where the eyes were, but I used a skull for reference, if that what you mean D: So, besides the neck being uselessly long, the head should be fine, but then, maybe you think the eyes are somewhere they aren't and I failed D:

Lighting and color change is your biggest feat here, and the spacial arrangement. What sticks out best, though, is your lighting, very good extremes. You complain too much about mistakes. Just be cool with your own work ^^ Nobody is going to be like "god she's not perfect let's hurl insults at her". And if they do, they're shit.

If you made any mistakes, I don't see them! This is absolutely wonderful. I love the texture of the fur and the snow. And his eyes are wonderful - they're alive with color. Great work!

OMG OMG puppy 'n' snow puppy 'n' snow! my two favorite things in ONE picture!! Very nice. Personally I think you're doing an awesome job so far as shading goes 'n'I like how the picture looks--it's kinda hard to describe but it almost looks...soft? I think that's the word i want. (hope you know what I'm tryin' to say). But my favorite bit in this piece has got to be the eyes. It might be their color but it just draws me in--very nicely done Rach. ^^ I can see why you got into that highly rated college. Best of luck with future artwork.
